Should Maureen Dowd Be Suspended?
Edited on Fri Apr-04-08 09:29 AM by Bullet1987
I serious...first David Shuster, threatening Chris Matthews, now Randi Rhodes who is a defender of liberal views and beliefs (one of the only on the damn radio)? Of all the things that have been said about Obama by people like Dowd...should she get suspended too? I mean, I'm in no way defending Rhodes's comments...but she was at an event where people WANTED to see her and we do have something in this country called freedom of fucking speech. I don't think she'll be fired since her show is one of the most popular ones on Air America, but this crap is becoming tiresome and rediculous. Wanting to hang every person that makes a bad remark. I didn't call for Pat Buchanan's resignation when he said Black people should be glad they were slaves because what he wrote was on his blog...he didn't say it on national television (then, I WOULD have wanted him to be fired). Randi didn't make those comments on air for crying out loud. Now you may consider Rhodes trashy, just as I consider Buchanan to be a closet bigot...but unless they make those comments on a national program or for all the world to see (purposefully to cause trouble), then they should still be allowed to express their views. Dammit, that's what this country was made for and people getting suspended and fired for that is just wrong...

2. apples and oranges
Dowd's commentary is often lame, but it's never been abusive.

Rhodes's commentary was both lame and abusive. She was suspended because of the abusiveness, not the lameness.

6. Don't try to turn this into a race issue...this is about Randi Rhodes and Clinton
Not Obama...and like I said, if Buchanan or anyone else made those comments on TV or the radio...then I would gladly call for their heads (in a manner of speaking).

4. It's not a free speech issue
She was at an AAR event representing AAR.

They didn't like what she said on their dime.

They suspended her.

7. Whatever she is being paid, it is too much.
Only her corporate masters can possibly be pleased with her phony liberal stance.

8. Liberal Views ? ? I'm No Fan of Hillary Clinton
but to call her a "fucking whore" is outrageous. What did this accomplish besides Rhodes getting suspended and becoming the latest poster-person as a Hillary hater?

Time and time again, right before a big primary, something happens and it appears that Hillary is being attacked and what happens oh Obama supporter? Women come out in droves to support her. So tell me again, why you are supporting this garbage? And if the tables were turned and Rhodes had called Obama the worst thing you can think of, would you be so damn supportive?

This public event was a station event, she was representing AAR & the KKGN.

9. I love how Obama supporters are defending Randi's vile tirade. It's just more proof you're turning
into what you most despised- Bushbots. I'm sorry but what she said was inappropriate, and I would say the same thing if it was a tirade against Obama.
