While we are pausing to praise and promoting peace..let us not forget
the sacrifices of others that gave their lives in the fight for Civil Rights..let us start with.."The Ghost of Mississippi"

Medgar Evers (he never seems to get enough recognition), at least IMHO.

Medgar Wiley Evers (July 2, 1925 – June 12, 1963) was an African American civil rights activist from Mississippi. He was murdered on June 12, 1963 by Byron De La Beckwith, a member of the Ku Klux Klan.
