If Hillary were a great candidate for president, she'd be way ahead. |
|
The contest would be over. Obama would have been left in the dust long ago. There would be no need for The Family to be out there fundraising and campaigning because the nomination would have been sewn up by mid-January. It would have been unanimous. There would have been nothing to argue about. There would be no need for a separate forum. The lion and lamb would lie down together.
But she's not.

2. actually, I blame the way her campaign was RUN, more so than whether |
|
she's a good candidate.
I think, if ANYONE other than Mark Penn, et al, were involved, she'd be doing a lot better by now.
so, I see it as a GOOD thing that she hired idiots, because it helped highlight her own inadequacy to lead, which may have never come to light otherwise.

13. I guess I'm postulating that a well run campaign can cover a multitude of sins |
|
with a well run campaign, we'd be thinking she was a good candidate. I'm talking more about perception than reality.
sorry if that was confusing.

3. According to Terry McAuliffe's calculations, Hillary would've won 2000 and 2004 by 10-15% |

Because Clintons know how to run campaigns.
Too many Dems believed this Clinton 'legend' that cast them as giant slayers because they forgot the reality of 1992 - Poppy Bush expected to be impeached if he remained in office for a second term, and he WANTED to lose.

4. According to my dog's calculations, if I had won the lottery |

and been accepted to Harvard Law School, I would have beat out Obama for editor of the Harvard Law Review and I'd be kicking his ass for the nomination right now. :bounce:

The contest isn't over for either Mr. Obama or Ms. Clinton. I personally believe that neither party has produced a viable candidate, just the the Republicans had a lot more unviable ones.

8. Considering Clinton has hundreds of times more name recognition and the backing of the establishment |
|
I'd say he has done amazingly well. A true people-powered movement taking down the establishment. Go Obama!

Why would lions and lambs lie down together? They are not even from the same continent. I've never understood that expression.
Anyway, only successful candidates ever become president. Some do well, most are disappointments or else are just plain disasters. There is no way to know how well a losing candidate would do. For example, would Carter have been worse than Reagan? Carter didn't do a great job, but at least his policies did not hurt us. For a primary example, in 1984 would Glenn have been a better GE candidate than Mondale. We can't know for sure, but I doubt Glenn would have blown it in a 49-state-sweep the way Mondale did. Recall, Mondale was kicked out of the VP office four years earlier.
So while HC is not as good of a CANDIDATE as Obama, there is no evidence to suggest she would not make as good of or a better PRESIDENT as Obama. I also don't think there is any evidence to suggest she would be a worse GE candidate considering that primary success has no bearing on GE success except tot he extent that only PE winners get a chance to lose it in the GE. In fact, the most politician of politicians when they occasionally get in usually do pretty well because of their inside connections.

The truth could be said about our guy. Though, he does have a way of making up for large deficits that would make any politician envious.

Ponies or some other dream animal (maybe a unicorn???) then she would be doing much better. She really brought this upon herself.
