I don't get what they are trying to accomplish her in PA |
|
I haven't walked into the Clinton office so I have no clue what they are doing, but driving home from work today there were a bunch of them on the side of the road waving signs and saying honk if you support Hillary. WTF does that accomplish. For the hours those people sat out there sucking in exhaust fumes they could have been calling people or knocking on doors. What a waste of a bunch of perfectly good and able volunteers.

1. Please, stop offering the Clinton campaign suggestions. |
|
Let them run as incompetent a campaign as they want to....for the country's sake.

After we win we have to bring some of these people in and they are probably going to want to do similar stupid things and re-train them how to do things right...sigh...

um... while I am NOT a Hillary supporter, I can perhaps answer your question.
Sitting there, hour after hour, working the phones for the OBama campaign during the Iowa caucuses, were quite taxing - and bad on the back.
It is routine for campaigners to take cigarette breaks, or undertake roadside visibilty activities, to break up the monotony.
The people you saw on the side of the road were probably working the phones no less than 15 minutes before you saw them.
How effective are these activities? Who knows - but it sure helps stretch out the legs.

It was pretty far from their office.
We have a lounge in our office for that. Old couches and what not.

But, despite the cold, it was still good to get outside.
And, besides, there was a strict, no smoking in-doors, policy...

6. Haven't you ever seen an anti war person on the side of the road |
|
saying, "honk if you're against the war"? You live in a small world if you haven't. This type of thing is done all the time. You really need to get out more or is this just your way of bashing Hillary?

|
I'm against the war but go spend your time doing things. Standing on the side of the road accomplishes nothing unless you have a "Homeless Vet will work for food" sign or if your a Volunteer Fire Fighter collecting money in your boot.
Am I bashing her...yes I think she's run a terrible campaign from a strategy prosepctive and this was just another example of it.

11. Yea, I'm sure Hillary personally called those supporters |
|
and told them to get out on the street. :sarcasm:
I personally LOVE honking for the anti war protesters on the side of the road. True American spirit.

8. I love holding signs by the side of the road |
|
I don't know what it accomplishes, but it's a lot of fun. My aunt (in PA) suggested to me the other day that Obama supporters should have people holding up signs for 5 miles straight to show support. Not sure if it would be terribly effective but it would sure be fun, and possibly get some press.

10. They are giving up their own time to volunteer |
|
I'm not a Hillary supporter, but what they were doing was "visibility"
If you have volunteers, you match them with what they want to do or what they are best at. Many people want to volunteer but don't want to phone bank or knock on doors. Maybe what they wanted to do was go in a group and do visibility. It can be more fun, you're in a group, you can share stories, from a coordinator's view point, at least they're volunteering, at least they feel like they are contributing and they are giving her some visibility.

16. There are so many better things to do |
|
Than to sit on the side of the road....maybe its because I was raised in a GOP household and was present at GOP campaigns when I was younger....they didn't do things like this.
