So you're going to sit this one out, huh?
Hillary's/Barack's campaign is so important to you that you're quite willing to let, or even help, the repub get into office so that your candidate can make a comeback in 2012? I think we should look at a little something that you will be a part of making happen.

Did you know that Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens turns 88 on April 20th this year? Yep, he's one of the oldest jurists in history, think he can make it to 93?

Oh look! Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 75 now, and has battled cancer. Still, she can do another four years standing on her head, right?

And then there's Stephen G. Bryer who is 69 this year. He's nearly the baby of the moderates on the court.

Lastly, David Hackett Souter at 68 nearly retired once already, but I'm sure he'll hang around another four years in the hopes that a Democrat is elected. Won't he?

But even if McCain gets to choose a judge or two (or three?) he's sure to appoint decent, constitutional moderates.

"There are estimates and, I don’t know if they’re true or not, that there are going to be a couple of vacancies on the Supreme Court in the next presidential term. I am proud to have played a role in the appointment of some great justices to the Court. I am very proud to have played a role in the appointment, nomination of two great Supreme Court justices Roberts and Alito," McCain said.

Oops.

Well, never mind, I'm sure your candidate will win four years from now and ask any new justices to step down so that new ones can be appointed. That should take care of things.

I once knew a guy who cut off his nose to spite his face. He has trouble breathing but he showed his face who's boss. That's what's important, right? Right?

2. Point well made!
It really is "Nadar Redux"!

If a Democratic voter is selfish and only impacts himself then who cares.

But if a Democratic voter is selfish towards America and the very future of America.....well then perhaps an evaluation of values and parties should be conducted.

These Supreme Court Justices are holding on for us, they are doing the most unselfish thing that they could ever do. They are risking spending their end days on the court instead of a quiet retirement to spend with their spouses. They are risking it to see a Democratic President to prevent the Supreme Court from turning so far right that this country will be officially a Facist country.

They are doing it for you....wake up!!

4. Blank
If my choice for the Dem nominee is not on the Presidential ballot in Nov. I'll leave the slot BLANK. I will however vote for the Dem Senate & Congressional seats in play in my state. Whats so hard about that? Are you a follow my party right or wrong voter?

Because, what is your alternative?

I do not want to hear that I'm a lockstepper. I'm certainly not. I work within the party to make changes, and we have had some success. But success does not come from a bunch of pouting diva/divo voters. They just make things worse, for themselves and for their children.

It's a case of "I'll show ME!"

8. I'm sorry, but that is such a selfish, narcissistic response.
This isn't about the party, it's about the Constitution, the economy, torture, poverty, reproductive choice, world opinion, our very future as Americans. If getting your way is more important to you than all of that, then you honestly need psychiatric assistance for megalomania. Your pride isn't worth all that.

Thanks for playing, there are no parting gifts for you.

Except for some scary right wing Supreme Court justices who'll sell you to a corporation so they can make soap out of you.

19. I understand your frustration
and normally I'm pretty independent but this is no time to be fucking around. The reasons are laid out in various places in the thread. If you aren't super rich, it's in your best interest to get a Democrat in the White House.

21. Spewing hatred is easy. Coping with death and destruction on this scale is not.
I think it's a lot easier for most of us to click past threads like that because they remind us that none of us was able to stop it. There's a feeling of complicity there that I don't like to think about that often. It shames me to say it but it's true.

14. We know Bush would have started Iran if he could have.
So I see no reason why McSame won't pick up from there. I have my suspicions about Hillary as well. Hillary didn't listen in starting Iraq and she isn't listening today with Iran.
