Sigh... please remain aware of this basic: McCain will continue to OVERPOLL
as long as the Dem race is in doubt. When we have a nominee they will change to the Dems natural 2008 advantage. Duh.

Head to head polls at this point in time are for entertainment purposes only. Those of you who want to post them for entertainment purposes please feel free to continue.

Just don't expect those of us who actually know something about polls, internals, and poll methodology to take them seriously.

Thanks.

1. Could you explain exactly why this is?
Or do you have some examples of similar situations in which this occurred?

3. There will be reconcilliation when we have a nominee
A lot of those who right now are angry and saying they will vote McCain in the GE will come home. A lof of people are voting on these polls based on raw emotion. Once the losing candidate embraces the nominee, a lot will change. And what else will change will be the press coverage, back to putting the focus on McCain as well.

2. You don't need to be an authority on polling
to realize that you can't have a head-to-head poll when there's one head too many.

And maybe not until after both conventions, even.

6. I hope you are right
And you probably are, since McCain is getting a free pass from the media right now while the Democrats attack each other. But if Obama is the nominee, I am going to be very worried if he does not have a cushion of at least a few points the day before the election, especially in places like Ohio. I'd love to believe the Bradley Effect does not exist anymore but I think it still does to some degree, and we need to be prepared for that.

8. Or the opposite may happen
Once Obama is confirmed as the nominee, half of the conservative/mainstream pundits that have been endlessly bashing Hillary will turn to Obama, weakening even more than he is now. Remember, some journalists, such as Peggy Noonan, David Brooks, Drudge, etc., are pretending to love Obama now because it suits their purposes of knocking out their least favorite person: Hillary Clinton, along with her husband.

We'll have to work twice as hard to bash McCain.

10. No we won't...
All we have to do is make sure America hears the truth.

11. There you go!
I see McCain's ratings going down, as soon as Democrats actually start paying attention to what he is saying.....which is not much for what ails us.

12. Once we have a nominee McCain will be toast
Who wants more war?
Who wants a guy who can't remember what his own position is? (he had to ask his aide what his view was on contraception!)
He's running, at least for the moment, on his military record, which apparently was abysmal (he wrecked 5 aircraft before being captured)
He has no financial plan for helping the middle class

What's not to like? SARCASM
