From an aging hippie: Senators Obama and Clinton: Will you stop the rain?
Long as I remember
the rain been comin' down.
Clouds of myst'ry pouring
confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages,
try'n' to find the sun,
and I wonder, still I wonder,
who'll stop the rain.

I went down Virgina
seekin' shelter from the storm.

Caught up in the fable,
I watched the tower grow.
Five years plans and new deals,
wrapped in golden chains,
and I wonder, still I wonder,
who'll stop the rain.

Heard the singers playin'
how we cheered for more.
The crowd had rushed together,
trying' to keep warm.
Still the rain kept pourin',
fallin' in my ears,
and I wonder, still I wonder
who'll stop the rain.

Personally, I have faith in neither of you. However, Barack seems
the lesser of evils.

3. great poem!
Do wish I could agree with your analogy, However, I have been an Obama supporter since the day he entered the race. I do not view him as the lesser of two evils, but as the hope for the future of this country. And, I am not a young thing, either - 66 year old white female - I should be in the Clinton camp. However, I am working on my doctorate degree - education helps one make an 'educated' decision and removes one from the absurdities of the rival candidate.

5. Welcome to DU!
:hi:

I can't take credit-It was written by J.C. Fogerty and recorded
by Credence Clearwater Revival in 1969. From an old hippie perspective,
I must admit to being a bit cynical. I drive a truck all over the USA
for a living, but, OMG, how I wish I could further my formal education!

54 YO WM here.

6. FWIW
You are wiser than any doctoral candidate I know.

I'll trust the views of someone who knows CCR lyrics when they see them over any academian any day of the week.

7. In GDP these days I have a different song in my head......
Father, Father
We don't need to escalate
War is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate

You know we've got to find a way
Bring some understanding here today......

10. FWIW
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind

I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
