7. This is exceptionally STRANGE, imho.
Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 01:16 AM by TahitiNut
I watched her 'act' (speech?) very closely. It was a bizarre piece of work, I thought. Scripted melodrama. Just about as bad an act as I've ever seen, even in high school speech class. When she got to the bookbag story, I went "WTF!?!" It just had me shaking my head. It didn't ring true at all. Not at all. Then I was trying to remember if I'd ever seen anyone carryng a bookbag in my college days betwen 1961 and 1966. Nope. Never did.

So... I dismissed it. I thought it was just another anchovie on the appalling pizza she's been serving up. I NEVER thought anyone else would latch it and have the same reaction.

Did errands. Took mother to Beauty Shop. Went to bakery. Went to bagel works. Then we went to dinner.

Came back and LO AND BEHOLD!! DU's got another rawhide bone to chew on. (Color me amused.)

26. While I tend to give her the benefit of the doubt,There is one very difficult thing about believing
Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 02:09 AM by Boz
her reaction as true, and not some contrived speech machination and it has nothing to do with bookbag details or any of those red herrings.

"Like many of you here who are of a certain age,"

"I will never forget where I was when"

"I heard Dr. King had been killed."

"I was junior in college"

"and I remember hearing about it"

"and just feeling such despair,”

“I walked into my dorm room and took my book bag and hurled it across the room."

It felt like everything had been shattered,"

"like we would never be able to put the pieces together again."

Watch the video and you will see what was missing and shows her to be disingenuous.
Can anyone fill in the blanks to show what was missing. It is the same thing every time.

16. Well, Hillary had a cat named Socks
And after Chelsea went to college, and Hillary was elected to the senate, it turned out that she gave socks the cat away. Of course the usual suspects on DU were up in arms, calling it "animal cruelty," and talking about how they had "used" socks the cat and then thrown him away as soon as they didnt need him anymore.

18. y'know, rodeodance, I'm not even an Obama supporter, and it's not the book bag that bothers me.
It's that the entire anecdote she recited rang queasily false to me. I don't know if it's a problem with her delivery (she's very awkward/stiff most of the time), or if it's another fabricated story, or just that she made the MLK anniversary more about her than she should have in an ill-advised attempt to relate--whichever of those things it was, I just don't buy it.

And that doesn't make me a Hillary hater or a sheep or anything else "vile." I just don't buy the story, and I think it was a misstep on her part.

United States Patent 3,622,056
Droeger November 23, 1971

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CONVERTIBLE SATCHEL

Abstract
A satchel is made convertible for selective carrying by hand, in the manner of a handgrip or valise, or by supporting it on the back and shoulders in the manner of a knapsack. A substantially rigid frame supports the container or bag portion and has a manually engageable handle and a shoulder strap harness attached thereto. A panel or flap in the covering material of the satchel conceals the strap harness when carrying by hand is intended, and this flap or panel rolls up to provide a resilient cushion engageable with the back of the user when shoulder carrying is intended, the cushion serving to space the lower portion of the frame away from the back of the user. The panel is closed by a slide fastener and straps and buckles are provided to keep the panel in its rolled position. The frame may be made integrally with, or attachable to, the container portion.

(EDIT for clarity---I pasted this to show people how in depth silliness can go. Yeah yeah yeah ok..so the first book bag or "Convertible satchel" wasn't even patented in the USA till the date above and I don't like her that much but even THIS is getting a little off the loop)
