You might be an Obamabot if....
- Your usual description of Hillary Clinton includes words normally only used between consenting adults in an intimate setting or yelled at the top of your voice during a football game.

- You actually believe that Obama's speech on race, good as it was, was the best speech on race in American history. Do the letters "MLK" mean anything?

- You point out similarities between Obama and JFK. Seriously, the guy ain't there yet. Give him eight years and maybe.

- You honestly believe there are no appreciable differences between Hillary Clinton, Smirky Bush and John McCain.

- You think Obama is going to usher in a new era of hope and change instead of just being markedly better than the evil bastards we currently have.

- You think Obama's passport being snooped had anything to do with the Hillary campaign.

- Your appreciation for Obama's policy points amounts to repeatedly chanting "GOBAMA!" and "YES WE CAN!".

- You think Obama's lack of experiance is actually a bonus.

- You think the Ferraro debacle illustrates that Hillary is herself racist.

- You think Hillary is so inhuman that her occasional emotional moments couldn't possibly be real and must be faked for the cameras.

- You now forget all the good points of the Bill Clinton presidency.

- You applaud Carter's sort-of endorsement and Oprah's outright endorsement of Obama but resent Wilson & Plame endorsing the candidate of their choice.

- You think Hillary Clinton's church makes her a stealth candidate for a(nother) fanatical religious reign.

- You think the two controversial primaries aren't a bloody mess.

- You think Hillary should be kicked out of the Democratic party. Or that she's already left.

You might want to check out the Hillbot one I did as well. The point wasn't that anyone who supports Obama is a loon ('cos that would include me), the point is that a certain faction of both candidate's supporters have gone a wee bit overboard.

18. I disagree.
The existence of both Hillbots and Obamabots can't be denied. And that means people who are publishing the least little bit of trash they can dig up on rightwing sites about the other candidate. It's out of line. I think Obama's the better candidate all around, but I still think we'll be lucky to have Mrs. Clinton at the top of the ticket.

Trying to calm down the -bots is a worthwhile focus.

37. We are watching two different movements in America reach critical mass at the same time.
The drive to give African-Americans a stronger role in public life, and the drive to give women a stronger role in public life.

It is understandable that there are heated passions on both sides, and they won't be calmed immediately.

The quicker this gets resolved, the quicker the calm can gain some legs.

23. Answered point for point...
- Your usual description of Hillary Clinton includes words normally only used between consenting adults in an intimate setting or yelled at the top of your voice during a football game.

Words she has earned from running the nastiest primary campaign in modern history. But frankly, many of us Obama supporters have held back from using the nastiest of terms to describe her. I myself have never used the b-word or the c-word.

- You actually believe that Obama's speech on race, good as it was, was the best speech on race in American history. Do the letters "MLK" mean anything?

Nonsense. But it was a groundbreaking, historical speech, probably one of the best speeches on race in the past generation. Have you actually listened to the speech?

- You point out similarities between Obama and JFK. Seriously, the guy ain't there yet. Give him eight years and maybe.

I've not seen anyone do that. Comparisons like that are kind of silly.

- You honestly believe there are no appreciable differences between Hillary Clinton, Smirky Bush and John McCain.

On foreign policy and free trade, there are very few differences between Hillary and the Republicans. I will grant, however, that Hillary and Obama take similar positions on domestic policies.

- You think Obama is going to usher in a new era of hope and change instead of just being markedly better than the evil bastards we currently have.

Nope. I believe the latter. He will have too much right-wing crap to fight against to become any kind of superhero. He will just be the best President we've had in a generation (perhaps since Kennedy), that's all.

- You think Obama's passport being snooped had anything to do with the Hillary campaign.

I don't believe that. I think it has more to do with the Criminal Bush Regime leaking all the information from the passports to GOP operatives to use in the General Election.

- Your appreciation for Obama's policy points amounts to repeatedly chanting "GOBAMA!" and "YES WE CAN!".

Nonsense. His domestic policies are pretty much as detailed, and workable, has Hillary's, and his foreign policy and trade ideas are simply better. On top of that, he has a fantastic command of the English language and gives the best speeches many of us have ever heard. So, we react with cheers to the man who will indeed be our next President.

- You think Obama's lack of experiance is actually a bonus.

Obama has more legislative experience than Hillary. And most of the 30+ years of "experience" that Hillary touts is nonsense. And for all the experience Hillary has, she still doesn't seem to have learned how to bring people together -- as if she learned nothing from the HillaryCare days.

- You think the Ferraro debacle illustrates that Hillary is herself racist.

There are many other instances that better illustrate that Hillary is some kind of racist.

- You think Hillary is so inhuman that her occasional emotional moments couldn't possibly be real and must be faked for the cameras.

Well, she has indeed been caught on camera with obviously fake laughter multiple times. And, there is a long history of the Clintons playing on the emotions of the American people. So, naturally, we extrapolate.

- You now forget all the good points of the Bill Clinton presidency.

I haven't forgotten any of the positives. However, Hillary's campaign (and a lot of what the former president is doing) has reminded many of us of all the negatives of those years. And frankly, there were many negatives.

- You applaud Carter's sort-of endorsement and Oprah's outright endorsement of Obama but resent Wilson & Plame endorsing the candidate of their choice.

This may be the only one you are correct about.

- You think Hillary Clinton's church makes her a stealth candidate for a(nother) fanatical religious reign.

The problem is that we don't really know. Bush surprised America by acting moderate in the 2000 campaign, then turning into an extreme monster in office. We don't want another bad surprise like that.

- You think the two controversial primaries aren't a bloody mess.

It's a mess they brought on themselves. They can swim in their own blood.

- You think Hillary should be kicked out of the Democratic party. Or that she's already left.

Well, when a candidate (Hillary) runs a nasty campaign against our presumptive nominee, she is not exactly working in the Democratic Party's best interest, is she?

24. - If you took this list entirely seriously...
I did one of these for the Hillbots as well. My point is that a certain faction of the supporters of both candidates (not the majority or even a very large minority but a very loud minority) have bought into a kind of destructive cult of personality that describes the other candidate as pretty much evil incarnate. It's destructive and more to the point, silly.

I have seen Obama's speech on race. It's superb, turned me into an Obama supporter in fact. My point is about the fanaticism of a certain faction of both candidate's supporters, not so much about the candidates themselves.

And incidently, I don't think anyone should have been surprised when Bush turned out to be an extremist monster. Most of his policies (barring the wars) were test-runned back when he was in Texas, Molly Ivins wrote a whole book about it (if you haven't read it, do so. It's hysterical). He picked Dick frickin' Cheney for his running mate! With that record, I don't think any of us should have been surprised.

There is a companion thread to this one referring to Hillbots. I was using satire to make the point that a certain small (but annoyingly loud) faction of both candidate's supporters are getting kinda nuts with their denunciations of the other side.

62. Oh c'mon. Who is really offended by being called an Obamabot or a Hillbot?
Besides, sometimes it's hard to fit "Obama supporters" or "Hillary supporters" on the subject line with everything else.

DU rule #32C says that "Obamabots" or "Hillbots" is acceptable language during the Primaries, or at least until Obama drops out of the race.

There is also a thread about Hillbots (which didn't get as many recs for some reason), there's a link to it upthread. I'm trying to make a point and draw a distinction between the supporters of both candidates and the small but very loud contingent of both who are more concerned with demonising the other candidate and seem to have joined some weird cult of personality and who I've chosen to describe as bots.

No, they don't apply to you because you're not a mindless shill but a certain faction of both candidates supporters are and they are the ones I'm mocking.

People spend way too long inside the beltway. It's not real life, and it's not "experience".

58. Neither Carter nor Oprah attacked Hillary
"You applaud Carter's sort-of endorsement and Oprah's outright endorsement of Obama but resent Wilson & Plame endorsing the candidate of their choice."

I don't give a shit who Joe Wilson endorses. He can even tout what he perceives as Hillary's better experience. But the problem that I, and others, had with him is that he then devolved into personal insults and snarky commentary. His articles were beneath him, and I would have expected someone with his diplomatic background wouldn't have needed to resort to those kind of tactics in his support of Hillary Clinton.

68. Fair enough

I'm just trying to make a point that the fanatical faction of both candidate's supporters are drowning out the rest of us. It's actually more about that fanatical section of supporters (small but annoyingly loud) than it is about the candidates themselves.

who are unable to make that distinction.
it is sad, however, that this kind of garbage is dominating the forum. i'm with you on that one.

67. Yes, I am an Obamabot!
I agree with 50% of the OP.

And I still am an Obamabot

I don't think anyone should be kicked out of the party......

And a few other ridiculous statements....

But otherwise, I agree, she has not earned it from the American voters.

77. I'm an Obamafan
As are most of Obama's supporters (most of Hillary's supporters being Hillfans). I'm trying to make the point with this and the companion Hillbot thread that a small but loud faction of both candidate's supporters have approached their candidate almost as a messiah and poured all their energy into not just the defeat but the destruction of the other side.

In other words, trying to seperate the supporters of both Obama and Hillary from the crazies.
