if:
1. The number of Clinton supporters on this board vastly outnumbered the number of Obama supporters.
2. A substantial number of Clinton supporters were actually freepers posing as Clinton supporters who are here just to disrupt this forum and the Party by daily bashing Obama.
3. Clinton was leading Obama by 1% of the vote and this board was flooded daily by demands of Clinton supporters that Obama drop out of the race NOW (presumably because by staying in the race he's tearing the Party apart)!
IOW, how would everyone like it if the tables were turned?

What basis do you have to believe that the archive doors would be thrown open, or some new golden age of reason and openness would occur based on the election of a Chicago party hack?

advocate of open government.
You think it doesn't matter whether a Dem advocates open government or not?
Think back to the Aug6,2001 PDB. Do you know WHY we citizens were allowed to know its contents?
If you don't, you have no cause for judging those who do.

7. Thoughtful people will control themselves |

All others are protected by the First Amendment.
It's not a quantifiable thing.
It either is or it isn't.
Again, I say, if no one takes the bait - it doesn't flame.
Either create a pay to play board where they must pay to post - or let it sink.

6. Why all the courtesy police? |
|
For the love of the constitution, why does everyone feel the need to control the behavior of others?
How very Republican.
Let people say what they will - or throw out the First Amendment.
I find the calls for "control" far more offensive.

13. I want no control over anyone else. |
|
Just saying - that it's not consistent with MY Democratic principles to expect everyone to agree with me. Or that they have to speak nicely to me.
That first amendment is pretty darn dear to my heart.
So, if some are offended by what I have to say - I'm sorry they feel that way.
But not likely to vote for controls over other's speech.
If I'm offended by someone I can:
1) tell them so
2) ignore them

8. You see a "substantial number of " |
|
Obama supporters here who are "freepers"?
I see a few Obama supporters who could tame their language, but I don't see any that really will vote for McSame if Clinton is the nominee.
One percent.... what is it about the democratic process that is wrong with winning by a mere one percentage point?
You will also see many states where Obama won by 20%, NOT 1%.... so where is this 1%? Oh you average the raw vote with the committed super delegates and somehow divide by whatever.
Obama is stronger in many states, but Clinton claims those states don't count as much as the states she has won in. Do you seriously think NY,CA,MA will vote for John McSame if Hillary isn't the Dem nominee?
The only thing "tearing this party apart" is the number of Hillary supporters who refuse to vote for the Dem candidate in the general! That's what "tears a party apart".
Let Hillary stay in as long as she wants, but when the raw vote is counted, and Obama wins, PLEASE don't tell us that none of that matters and it's up to the super delegates to make the final choice of Hillary.

11. And, the last time I checked how a democracy works.... |

It's the majority of votes that decides elections, even if by one vote!
But maybe GWB changed that in 2000.... but I'm not going there.

The desire for Clinton to drop out is not based on percent of the vote, but the chances of her getting the nomination, which are nil. I don't know why Clinton supporters are incapable of doing a little math. If it were impossible for Obama to get the nomination, I would be just as anxious for him to drop out.

23. You make a host of flawed arguments there. |
|
Firstly, the idea that a substantial number of Obama supporters are actually Freepers posting as Obama supporters for the purpose of bashing Clinton is rathat silly. In fact, it really makes me want to laugh. The Clinton supporters themselves, in fact, are doing a fair job of disruption on their own account...shall I send you a list of Clinton supporters, very VOCAL ones, who I know have been tombstoned? I can promise you that such a list is far longer than a comparable list of Obama supporters. I also tend to see Clinton's supporters being more frequent in citing right-wing news sources when such are favourable to their candidate, so tell me, who then are the 'Freepers'?
The idea that Clinton is only losing by '1% of the vote' is ALSO just silly; this is a race about delegates, and by that measure she's behind by much more than 1% (and with caucus estimates added, she trails in popular vote by three percent). The numbers involved are such that the gap can't be closed.
If you're going to posit a hypothetical like this, you could at least get your basic facts straight instead of just making things up out of whole cloth, as you appear to be doing.

Then we would ALL be for TeamClinton, wouldn't we? And there would be no possibility of a Candidate Barack Obama, would there?
But instead, many of us KNOW now about the Clintons protection of BushInc throughout the years, and do NOT want to see it continued into the next decade.
You do. We don't.

If she's only down by "1%", then why does she need 65% of every state going forward just to TIE Obama in delegates?
