Ohio Hospital Contests a Story Clinton Tells |
|
Over the last five weeks, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York has featured in her campaign stump speeches the story of a health care horror: an uninsured pregnant woman who lost her baby and died herself after being denied care by an Ohio hospital because she could not come up with a $100 fee.
The woman, Trina Bachtel, did die last August, two weeks after her baby boy was stillborn at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. But hospital administrators said Friday that Ms. Bachtel was under the care of an obstetrics practice affiliated with the hospital, that she was never refused treatment and that she was, in fact, insured.
Linda M. Weiss, a spokeswoman for the not-for-profit hospital, said the Clinton campaign had never contacted the hospital to check the accuracy of the story, which Mrs. Clinton had first heard from a Meigs County, Ohio, sheriff’s deputy in late February.
The sheriff’s deputy, Bryan Holman, had played host to Mrs. Clinton in his home before the Ohio primary. Deputy Holman said in a telephone interview that a conversation about health care led him to relate the story of Ms. Bachtel. He never mentioned the name of the hospital that supposedly turned her away because he did not know it, he said.Deputy Holman knew Ms. Bachtel’s story only secondhand.
HOW COULD HILLARY BE SO SLOPPY WITH THE TRUTH?

2. The Clintons And The Truth Are Not Close Friends |
|
I had the privilege of working on an opposition campaign (Tsongas) in 1992. It was *amazing* to us how The Clintons lied so often and so effortlessly. The general voting public had little knowledge of this because Big Media was playing it down. Unfortunately we didn't have the Internet back then, which has made research, and the spreading of information, much easier.

With the internet doing double duty checking accuracy of the "news"...WHY WOULD HER CAMPAIGN not confirm these stories before letting her go on repeating them?

My posting a mainstream news article stating the facts and Hill's exaggerations... AND POINTING OUT THE INCOMPETENCE OF HER CAMPAIGN STAFF who lazily didn't check for facts in the tragic story of a woman's after giving birth ...AND that HILLARY LIKED THE STORY of (as pointed out in the NYT's article)>><<“I mentioned this story to Senator Clinton, and she apparently took to it and liked it,” Deputy Holman said, “and one of her aides said she’d be using it at some rallies.”<<
IS NOT, fyi, "viscious"!!!... and the correct spelling of that would be (((vicious))). Are you sure you're not the stupid republican or con?

...gullibility is what got Bush Jr elected twice!
Don't go by what candidates say, for heaven's sake. Look at their past actions because it is their past actions that predict what they will do in the future.

6. The hospital may be trying to cover their arse |
|
In my work, I know there are cases when this kind of thing happens. Hospitals do make mistakes, do try to charge patients co-pays and do refuse care when the patient can't come up with the cash. A good patient advocate can usually work their way through the chain of command at the hospital and find someone to reverse the decision, but distraught and frightened patients don't.
When you shine a light on these situations, the hospitals are quick to change the story, usually finding some way to blame the patient or an employee.
A sheriff's deputy in a small town is also a reliable source of information. He would know what took place when EMS was called. Here's an idea. Do a full investigation and find out what really happened.
The bottom line is the patient was pregnant, needed health care, tried to get it but didn't and she and her baby died as a result. Someone screwed up royally and I doubt the patient did such a thing on purpose.

16. Hospital would not make public statement on this issue unless they can back it up... |
|
...Unlike Hillary Clinton, hospitals generally do not knowingly make public statements that are lies. They have too much at risk, including hell to pay from their Boards if they do.
They would NOT defy Hillary Clinton and her lies unless they had proof to back them up.
I cannot believe that Hillary's supporters are this gullible.

Saying she didn't die at their hospital, but at one in Columbus.
But if they didn't treat her, how did they know she was "insured" and how did she end up at a hospital 75 miles away?
