1. God DAMN it!
Is it too much to ask that you include "Graphic Pics" in your subject line?

I don't give a fuck if you or others feel we NEED to look at these. We've seen them, we're aware of the horrors, we haven't forgotten.

Could you just give us an OPTION of whether or not to open your thread?

Jesus -

7. I'm well aware of reality -- look at my sig line.
And besides being a snarky asshole, I appreciate your revising your subject line.

34. He could have posted a warning
And you could have reminded him of that in a much nicer way.

shown in these photos. I added a graphic photo tag to insure that this drops like a stone. No go back to crying over Randi Rhodes and Hillary's sniper joke.

8. I'm sorry...
I think America should see more of these images. it's too easy to push it under a rug and forget about it. Especially for the repugs.
they should be looking at what they've done every single day...but that just my opinion...

11. And I agree --
I've often said that every single member of Congress and the Senate should sit through a film of waterboarding, and see photos exactly like these. I don't think THEY deserve the option of viewing because they're the ones who voted to support all this horror.

Most of us on DU HAVE seen these and similar photos and are enraged and heartbroken. I just think it's FAIR to post a warning in the subject line. I honestly don't think that's too much to ask.

9. We ARE offended by the reality of this situation --
and how dare you to presume that those who find these photos too difficult to view -- AGAIN -- are only interested in Randi Rhodes and candidate slams.

16. I don't have a problem, walldude but there are people on this list
who lived through what you put up and its more than a picture. its experiences in their mind that haunt them. I
am glad they are here but don't underestimate the angst some people have over this. Some of the people here
waded through shit in NO.

on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Katrina didn't just happen to NOLA.

And Katrina is why some of us feel as strongly as we do.

Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 09:45 PM by walldude
a couple people upthread were upset I didn't tag it as graphic.

Believe me I know some DU'ers are from N.O.(Swampy!), and one of my best friends lost his house, job, everything but what they could squeeze in his car. He's now in rehab and his wife and daughter live with his mom in Florida. I also have a nephew in Iraq.

I only post this shit cause I get tired of bowling posts. At this point people can't get enough and to satisfy their appetites they make news story's out of sound bites..

13. I well remember these tragedies, that's why we need a pres. who will not make same mistakes! ...
...and that's not Hillary Clinton. She has not been against the Iraq war, and has dragged her feet on getting our troops home. She promises to bring them home if she is president, but she has lied so much we can't believe her on anything.

If we sit back quietly and let her lies and unethical campaigning go unchallenged, then we are helping her get elected.

We have to speak out if we don't want the tragedies to continue.

14. I think what you show here is the fuel for what drives most of us here.
It's kind of condescending to think that people don't care about this stuff because they don't talk about it everyday. This whole election is to stop this kind of shit, and I think that's behind a lot of the emotion we're seeing. People are sick of the very thing you're showing, and we know what's on the line. That's why so many are fighting so hard for their choice, because they feel that choice is the one who can put this country back on track. But none of that will happen until Bush is gone. First things first.

The underlying drive to all of this is the desire to see these things ended. I think posts like this, while a good reminder, can also be insulting. You're not the only one who cares about this stuff, and just because people are talking about some silly shit doesn't mean they don't care about it just as much as you do.

that's why threads like this drop with 10-20 replies but I HATE YOU threads get hundreds of responses.

After reading the crap posted here day in and day out you are going to tell me that this post is insulting? Good. It was meant to be. However embarrassed we are it's not enough. We look like complete fools.

for anything I post... I took your post to mean you were insulted by mine.

Thing is I'm not really trying to insult anyone. But 95% of the threads here are crap. Most of the posts are people responding in kind to crap threads. I figure someone has to balance it out.

Plus I get tired of posting "nice" threads and then having to defend myself to some troll. Figured I'd be a dick, then at least I'd deserve any criticism I got.. :toast:

19. I need reminding..
but unfortunately even these picture do not stir the angst they once did. News of torture, incessant bombing, the deaths of millions of people, corruption, the usurpation of our Justice Department..none of these things manage to even pique my curiosity. I believe my soul can no longer be stirred, perhaps it is dying.

Or if a minister is moving into a white neighborhood.

I've recommended this and I hope it does some good.

Thanks Walldude.

People wallow in GDP 'cause they're avoiding reality. (And, from the behavior displayed, it's prob'ly best GDPers aren't exposed to the public.)
