Clinton Asks Obama's Pledged Delegates to Switch
<snip>

Sen. Hillary Clinton made a blunt appeal to North Dakota delegates to switch their support to her, despite the fact that Sen. Barack Obama handily defeated her in the state's caucus in February.

<snip>

Clinton made it clear to North Dakota Democrats last night that she believes there is no such thing as a pledged delegate and highlighted that stubborn streak in her appeal for delegates to switch from Obama to her when the Democratic national party holds its nominating convention this August.

4. She has the right to ask
And I'm glad she did, because that will only strengthen the delegates' resolve to show up and vote for Obama.

7. I guess I disagree that she has the right to ask pledged delegates to vote against The Voters
you know, we the people who elected them to support Obama.

It reeks of desperation though, for her to even ask in the first place, regardless of whether she "has a right" to ask.

18. Yes, she has the right to ask
but it really does call into question whether she really cares about the will of the voters. Not that we didn't know this already, but it's that much more obvious now that all her noise about FL and MI voters being disenfranchised wasn't sincere.

5. For the very reason you gave, Obama "handily defeated her", why would they do it?

10. I'd certainly hate to be one of Barak's pledge delegates if they DID switch to Hillary
especially when they return to their respective states to face the voters who entrusted them
to support the voter's choice.

22. I hear ya, I just don't think they will do it. It is a very rare occurence when a delegate
changes their vote from who they are suppossed to vote for

It would also guarentee our loss in November, because the party would go nuts

24. Uh, no, she can't
Well actually I mean she can, but then again I can also ask a widow to sleep with me at the funeral of her husband.

Its technically kosher, she's not married anymore right?

But maybe not the best form.....

16. She doesn't want to disenfranchise Florida and Michigan voters
but she doesn't mind disenfranchising the voters of ALL other states by saying that pledge delegates should switch to support her.

What a hypocrite.

20. Desperate times call for desperate acts
and she is definitely desperate. These acts give us all an idea, despite the things she and Bill say, of the status of the situation. She is definitely losing in this quest and is grabbing for whatever lifeline she perceives might be available. I am hoping none of Obama's pledged delegates perceive themselves to be "available."
