You can't really believe that Hill's statements about going after pledged delegates help her |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 05:46 PM by cali
Look, I don't mind Hillary making these kinds of imperious and entitled statements. They just make her look bad, and they won't persuade a single pledged delegate. Yes, strictly speaking it's within the rules, but the reality is that pledged delegates don't switch anymore than electors switch. All it really does is make her look ham handed and politically tone deaf. A lot of Hillary's problems in the primary have caused by Hillary, Bill and their surrogates. So as I said, I don't mind her doing it because it hurts her, not Obama. And if hill supporters actually thought instead of just reflexively defended her, they'd recognize that this shit isn't good for their candidate.

1. Do you have a link to a Clinton supporter saying they thought it was a good idea? |

8. That is a link to the OP - one that is in agreement with your position |
|
There were a few points of view in that thread, but I don't know if I saw any "hill supporters who reflexively defended her". Certainly the vast majority appeared to be in agreement with your position. Maybe you can give a link to the specific post(s) that you are referring. To do that, click the post in the list on top of the thread, then copy and paste the address into your post.
Another question is why not just carry on your argument in that thread with the couple folks who seem to have a differing opinion? Why start a new one? I'm trying to understand.

5. Sure isn't attracting any delegates to her side |
|
In fact, Hillary's hamfisted armtwisting seems to be pissing off a lot of delegates and they're fleeing from The Clintons as fast as they can. For most Democratic politicians, the Clinton years weren't very good unless you were a FOB sycophant. And the delegates remember very well what the Clintons did to them, their friends and their comrades. And they definitely don't want any more of that nonsense.

6. While I agree with you there is a precedent (of sorts) |
|
In 84, the Mondale people actively tried to get Hart delegates to switch to Jesse Jackson in order to get his support -- and they did get one to switch
It was just another reason why many Hart supporters I knew (including myself) did not vote for Mondale in 84. I voted Bergland.
It's a bad way to do business and it creates bad feelings within the Party.
