Democratic contenders always get labeled as "liars"
Remember Gore? Remember Kerry? Totally smeared as liars while the biggest dissembler in the world got away scot free.

This is always the frame that disembowels us - usually by the MSM, while the Repubs get a free ride and go uninspected.

How many times is that word in the OPs on this board right this moment? Good job doing the MSM labeling and packaging ahead of time.

Disgusting.

3. It's better than "rabid white hater." No room to talk.
Maybe she should start telling the truth.

12. I think ownership of the networks, and the airwaves and the newspapers
makes a very small group the "mainstream" and I actually think that is an accurate nomenclature. Not that they speak for the mainstream, but that they pretend to and they own the "main streams" of information.

Call it whatever you want. We have that discussion interminably and it impacts nothing. My own preferred acronym is

CRAP - Corporate Republican Agenda Promotion. sigh. Never caught on.

6. So what do we democrats do when she says this:
"Obama has been credited with foreseeing a troublesome war in Iraq primarily due to a speech he gave in 2002 while he was a state senator, where he spoke out against the war. Clinton said, “I started criticizing the war in Iraq before he did."

Do we sit back silently and let her win the nomination to see how it will play out w/McCain?

8. Fuck that.
I'll say something when ANY Democrat running for office engages in blatant lies. We deserve and expect better than dishonesty.

does Hillary really think she can get away with these things?
or is she past the point of caring?

I think this one takes the cake ... IMO

7. I have higher standards for my own party
than for the republicans. They have proven time and again they are shameful. But my own party? I expect better out of its representatives. And I'm not a blind follower like a republican, so if a Democrat, especially a well-known Democrat, is caught lying, yeah, I'm going to notice. And say something.

If the shoe fits, wear it.

I'm extremely disappointed in her behavior. And I don't respond to strange arguments about how we're not suppose to criticize those in our own party when the criticisms are legit.

10. They will call Obama a liar too. They will probably say he lied about Hillary's lies.
Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 10:03 PM by McCamy Taylor
I am waiting for some additional footage to come out about the Tuzla landing in the general election that shows Hillary and Chelsea ducking/cringing/running a few steps as they get off the plane (you know that part we never get to see in that very brief bit of edited CBS footage) and then the MSM will call Sinbad (who must be an Obama supporter for obvious reasons) a liar who deliberately sank Hillary's campaign (and Obama was obviously in on it).

That is the only way I can explain why no other news organization has come forward with their own footage from that day. The press was swarming. If they all had stuff that looked like CBSs you would think that everyone would have wanted to get into the act---unless some of them are holding back for a bigger show later during the general.

The NYTs will do a story about the oppo he did on Hillary---"HIllary Clinton (D-Punjab)" , "The Race Memo"--that they tried to release w/o taking credit for. McCain said first thing when he won that he would try to portray Obama as a Daley style dirty trickster. That in itself is as good a reason as I have ever heard for him and Hillary to form a unity ticket. It would blow the GOP strategy out of the water. No more "Hillary is a bitch" Hey, Obama likes her. No more "Obama plays dirty" Hillary is on his team so there can not be any hard feelings.

Well, not honestly denying them, anyway.

18. And sometimes it's true.
http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/04/05/politics/fromtheroad/entry3996192.shtml

Clinton was later asked about her now infamous 3 a.m. phone call ad and what exactly makes her ready to answer that call when she has, as part of her record, a vote for the war in Iraq. Clinton defended her vote on the war saying voters should compare both her and Obama's records.

“I made a considered judgment, I didn’t make a speech, I made a decision and it was a decision based on my best assessment on what would be in the interest of our country at that very uncertain time.”

http://clinton.senate.gov/speeches/iraq_101002.html

Floor Speech of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton
on S.J. Res. 45, A Resolution to Authorize the Use of
United States Armed Forces Against Iraq

She jumped onto that bandwagon like it was a parade float and sang a solo number to tell the world what a tough cookie she was. Please stop insulting my intelligence. The minute I read her remark above I thought of that speech she gave.

19. My point is: NO MATTER WHO the Democratic contender is - the MSM will label them as a "liar"
and they will give a free ride to McCain.

Our candidate will be given 20 TIMES the scrutiny of McCain.

It doesn't matter matter if it's Hillary or Obama.

That was my point.

(Could anyone actually think that someone "lies" about whether they had a bookbag or not?)
