Why talk about Clinton at all? |

(I mean if you are not a Clinton supporter. Obviously Clinton supporters want to discuss her.)
But if you are not a Clinton supporter, and barring any new whopper fish stories of hers, why bother even mentioning her? Don't worry about having to hold your nose in November, you won't have to. Obama apparently isn't too worried about her, why should you be?
I have a friend who is a HUGE Clinton supporter, acts like she's a deity. But she's pretty much just stopped mentioning her lately when we meet for lunch at work. She used to talk her up all the time. Now on the rare occasions when she says something, I just smile and nod. It's hard for her. She's getting more and more angry and defensive every day. I know what it feels like to have your person lose in the primary. I think a lot of us do. It's not easy.
But at this point? Again, barring another big tall tale out of her, I don't really care at all what she says or does. It doesn't matter. Clinton the Candidate has reached irrelevancy. End.

Funny you chose that term, I did a lot of research on it back in the day as an undergraduate. It's thought to be the phenomenon behind the 1986 shuttle explosion, btw. Loads of people at NASA knew of the problems, but there was such a pervasive culture of pressure to not EVER say anything negative that people were literally terrified to report their concerns.
That's groupthink--a pervasive pattern of pressure to conform to the group opinion, no matter WHAT the consequences.
So how is my one opinion that Clinton doesn't even really need to be discussed by Obama supporters here an example of groupthink? As far as I can see, I can't find any other threads expressing the same thing, much less a pervasive pattern of pressure to feel that way!

I do object to the freeperesque behavior around here, though. I hate being put in the position of defending Hillary, whom I consider a corporate centrist, but the attacks on her have become so batshit crazy that it's hard not to speak up. I really am beginning to think that some of the more bizarre posters here are genuinely mentally ill.

She's a fighter, she'll keep on going until she is forced out, and she'll hurt Obama's chances and our chances in the GE, in the meantime.
Not to analogize her with a snake per se, but if there is a gimp rattlesnake in your house, you don't leave it there to perhaps get you with poison. My point is, Hillary is resilient, clever, and ruthless, and therefore dangerous.
She needs to have more of her lies exposed so she will be forced out.

She is a self-described pragmatist, who does everything by calculation, including voting for a war that she opposes because of political expediency. She IS one of those "cold and timid souls" who does not dare greatly. If she was not, she would not be a ranking member of the DLC. Her entire career is compromise and playing safe - in fact, even this hotly contested campaign is an accident. She KNEW it was all going to be over by Super Tuesday, that her only real opposition was John Edwards, and that it was going to be a coronation, not a nomination.
She has never had a serious fight in her life. Before now. And this one was completely unexpected.
TR would laugh to see that applied to HC.

where do they go from here? We all know it takes time to recover from losing our favorite candidate and move on to the next. At what point is she being selfish? At what point does she put her supporters and party above her ambition? Many fear these are considerations that will never enter her mindset. I hope they are wrong. It will all play out, Obama will be our nominee and our next and one of the greatest Presidents ever.
