Edited on Tue Jun-01-04 07:47 PM by cqhayes
Am I the only one that has noticed that Kerry is spending not only a lot of time but also a lot of money in Virgina? Why would he do this? Virgina is a solid red state and it has been for a long time. The only logical reason would be because he thinks he has a shot at the state and the only logical way he could possibly have a shot in hell at that state is if had Virgina Governor Mark Warner on the ticket. .... Just a thought....

7. Not a chance.
Too inexperienced.

And I'm a HUGE Warner fan. It just sucks that VA (in it's infinite idiocy) chose to term limit governors to one term. Warner could have been a leading presidential candidate in '08 or '12.

9. Unlikely. He needs to run against JOHN Warner in '08
Allen is too popular in VA, but John Warner is on his last legs - he probably won't even be on the ticket in '08. Who are they going to put up? Gilmore?

Besides. It will clear up the whole "name thing". :-)

11. I appreciate the feeling (though he's further right than you think)
But J Warner is not going to be in the Senate much longer either way and M Warner is out ONLY shot at that seat. Let another young Republican in there and we don't have a shot at that seat again for 30-40 years.

Allen can't be beaten in VA short of the old dead girl/live goat story. ESPECIALLY if Kerry wins in November.

13. oh, i know he isn't really moderate
but i just can't stand some of the republican senators we have such as george allen, rick santorum, saxby chambliss, etc. i get sick listening to them. and john warner looks pretty good compared to them.

but i do agree that if/when john warner retires it would be a good time for democrats to seriously run for that seat. and if mark warner is the only one then he should run for it. i sure don't want someone like george allen up there.

12. Even though I'm originally from DC I don't know much about Mark
Warner. Is he a strong campaigner? Aside from a "shot at" VA would he be a good VP candidate otherwise?

14. Warner ran against a very weak repub candidate and won....
he's not from VA, just a northern virginia transplant, I think from Kansas? I don't think we could sell him as a southerner, because he's not...he's also pretty moderate, which you have to be in Virginia state politics to win, other than a small district.

17. Very, very doubtful.
Warner is no guarantee he would win Virginia, and he helps Kerry not at all on the single issue where Kerry loses to Bush: Foreign Policy and the War.

Won't be Warner.
Won't be Edwards.
Won't be Gephardt.
Won't be Bayh.
