"Brand Obama, a winner in the image war"
It doesn't matter where you stand politically, or what you think of them personally. Whether you prefer Barack Obama's policies to Hillary Clinton's. What you think of her electioneering tactics, or his pastor. Or if you'd dump them both for John McCain. When it comes to choosing the best-designed U.S. presidential candidate, there's only one contender - Obama.

Every element of his visual identity has been masterfully conceived and executed to depict Obama as perfect presidential material. "It really is a treat to see graphic design applied so well," said the typography designer, Jonathan Hoefler. "Visually he is on message at every turn. I can't think of many corporations that use design so intelligently."

1. I Read This Article Earlier (Almost Posted It Too)...
One of the things it brought to mind was when we were passing out the tickets to the town hall here a week ago, once the people in line got inside a lot of the younger children went over to our "kid's corner" where they had crayons, markers and big artist sketchbooks. They were all drawing their own Obama logos and signs even though no one had directed them to. I think the first little girl who went over did it on her own and it just caught on. There were some colorful ones I saw...

2. Yet voters still think he's inexperienced
and that's why he hasn't closed the sale.
His support is softening as voters decide they aren't in the mood to choose candidates based on slick advertising this time around.

It works ok when the economy is good, not so much when voters are worried about the future. That's when substance and experience count.

3. Yet we know Obama is the best choice because of his intelligence and vision
Edited on Sun Apr-06-08 01:31 PM by Bensthename
He laid out what would happen if US invaded Iraq in a time when it was politically popular to vote for the war (Hillary and Kerry). And now he is in a good position against McCain on the war.
Also his vision for the future is leaps ahead of any other candidate.

Just because McCain has the most experience is not a good reason for him to be pres.

6. No we don't know that
He's a bright guy, but inexperience is a huge problem.

As for vision, I haven't seen much evidence of that. He's good at using buzz words, but he hasn't offered much detail or substance in discussing the issues.

11. Peddle Your Tired Meme Elsewhere...
You have failed to grasp the message and refuse to research the "detail or substance". That doesn't mean it isn't there to be found. That and your blind loyalty to a candidate who lacks his judgment and management skills.

13. So where has Hillary's experience worked?
She should have knocked him out with 20% by now.
Obviously her experience has caught her fumbling while Obama has mostly sailed smoothly.

5. That's the thing. It isn't *SLICK* advertising. It is RESPONSIVE advertising.
It's a distinction that an HRC booster probably lacks the ability to grasp.

8. Advertising w/o substance, nevertheless
Coke has great advertising, too, but it doesn't have much substance to it other than taste and a caffeine buzz.

4. I have been in awe
of the branding... Something the Dems have truly been without for so long after being out-branded by repukes for almost 30 years. As cynical as I might be against things advertising, I can't deny that branding is what makes one look - and then you have to be ready to give them more (the hook) to keep them engaged. And in this case, the Obama branding - particularly the logo - and Obama himself, have certainly produced.
