Poll question: How many * bumper stickers have you seen in the last 2 weeks?
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 07:00 AM by saywhat
We've talked about this on several threads, but I thought it would be interesting to quantify things a bit.

34. I'm in the Chicago burbs
and until recently I've only seen one of each.

But during the past week I've seen a spurt of them, maybe about 5 or 6.

Still just one Kerry sticker that said: "John Kerry: The Real Deal"

Not a one, which is weird considering where I live.

As mentioned in another thread, I experienced an anti-Bush, pro-Kerry moment with three different people in traffic yesterday, but I have yet to see anything close to a pro-Bush advertisement anywhere.

13. I occasionally see Bush/Cheney Bumper stickers.
Usually a half dozen at a time on the back of one vehicle. They often appear along with an in your face Christian bumper sticker and/or a bumper sticker with a Confederate flag on it.

and the few faded Bush/Cheney stickers from 2000 don't count.

Around here, you don't see many bumper stickers of any kind. May have something to do with leased cars, or plastic bumpers.

Pickups, though, are another matter. Union stickers and flags.

20. The union man may not be very friendly to bush because
of his anti labor stance. I see that in my local.

I have given out at least 100 Kerry bumper stickers in my area.

Get them out there early. We need a big show of numbers. If we can get 5% of the vehicles sporting a Kerry sticker, that would be significant. How many cars do you see every day?

I was driving back to Houston from Austin, and I also saw a Howard Dean sticker on the back of a minivan on Parmer Lane near Mopac. That person honked the horn at me, probably because he/she saw my Kerry stickers. Deaniac, was that you? :bounce:
I also saw a faded Clinton sticker, but I guess that doesn't count.

A beat to shit old Neon that looks like it's about to collapse into a pile of spare parts, and driven by a balding 40-something guy who's about 150 pounds to heavy for the springs in the car to withstand.

Odd that someone who drives a pile of crap, is obviously in need of health care, and also has Union stickers in his window would want to support someone that wants to see him and everyone like him removed from sight.

Seriously, there are only a few Shrubbie stickers in Knoxville and that's saying TONS. (That is if you don't county the 2000 stickers left over and peeling on older cars because no one can afford to buy new ones!)

47. Not one in Miami!
Have seen a few Kerry bumper stickers on cars in traffic this week, and lots of them at Dem events.

Last Friday I went to a breakfast at the Versailles Restaurant. This place is the local hotbed of political activity. It was great, if not a little surreal, seeing so many Spanish speaking people eager to unseat Ileana Ros-Lehtinen!
http://www.patlak.org/index.html

On the other hand, I saw a man waving a "Mel Martinez for Senate" sign this morning. :puke:
I've got some Betty Castor flyers and plan to pass more out later today. Go Betty!
http://www.bettynet.com/site/PageServer

While I'm at it, here's a plug for my favorite candidate for Mayor of Dade-County.
http://www.jimmy2004.com/eng/home.aspx

More good news, there's "Republicans for Kerry" Cuban group hosting a fundraiser at lunchtime today and this evening I'm headed for an event with Teresa Kerry as the speaker. It will be the second time I've seen her. I expect to see a lot of Kerry bumper stickers there.

The tide is turning in Miami, and if we have an honest election this time around, Bush will suffer a resounding defeat.

Its interesting that nationalistic jingoism seems to be used in place of direct support of Bush. I assume everybody with a flag on their car is a Bush supporter...though I'm intrigued with the possibility that this may not necessarily be the case.

73. I'm in Alabama....
Edited on Wed Jun-23-04 06:19 PM by charlyvi
Yes, Alabama, and I haven't seen one yet. I did see a Kerry sticker, though, which made my heart happy. It's weird--for the most freeper state in the nation not to have any * bumper stickers. And I'm on the Interstate two hours a day--if * bumper stickers were popular, I would definitely know. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!!!!!

75. I SAW MY FIRST ONE TODAY! Said "I stand with George W. *ush"
It was at a Wallmart parking lot, where I wasn't shopping btw. My daughter had a coupon and used it despite our aversion for this international child abuser.

76. More and more each day!
I see two yard signs on my way to my kids' day care. I live in a Milwaukee suburb that is very conservative, so this is a good sign!! I saw a car at the grocery store just today, with TWO Kerry stickers.

77. here in San Diego
I've surprisingly seen about 3 kerry stickers in the last week and 2 or 3 Bush ones. This is good considering this is heavy republican territory. I never saw a single Gore sticker in 2000, but too many Bush/Cheney stickers that year.

78. Has anyone seen the Bush/Satin 04 sticker?
I saw one in Albuquerque and could not stop laughing!

I have seen three or for Kerry stickers and no Bush stickers here in New Mexico.

79. Why so few Bush/Cheney bumper-stickers on cars?
Here's the answer, given in a spirit of helpfulness, from a Bush supporter. It is not due to a lack of enthusiasm out there for the president. It is because most of us understand that many among our opposition have such a white-hot hatred for GWB that we Bush supporters fear that a Bush bumper-sticker could turn our cars into targets for vandalism, and nobody wants that. This being the case, we are content to wait until November to express our support for the president. Just thought you might like to know, since I didn't see that any of you had considered this as a possible reason.

81. Please,
I have never ever met a shy or unaggresive rightwing ideologue. I don't know about you or the people you hang with, but every true blue * supporter I've known comes across like a pit bull.

The fact is, imho, that the support for this warmongering dunce is simply disappearing. Truth hurts.

82. In Richmond....
...heavy Republican area, I've only seen one Bush sticker. But I'm sure it's due to over-confidence.

I've seen about a dozen Kerry stickers and 3 big lawns signs in windows.

My favorite bumpersticker said: Dated Dean, Married Kerry

83. I've only seen one all year.
It was out in the 'burbs.

Here in Salt Lake City I see two or so Kerry bumperstickers a day (when I actually go out and drive) as well as a lot of Kucinich ones.
