Democrats wake up and use talk radio! |
|
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 09:25 AM by doc03
This is not from me, it is from a local liberal, Democrat, ABB, talk show host and radio station owner. He said he gets 3-4 calls every week from the state and local representatives of the Bush campaign and has yet to be contacted by anyone from the Kerry campaign. Even when Kerry made a stop locally a few weeks ago he heard nothing. Every week the state and local Bush people make the talk show circuit in this area. They can't say all the talk shows are conservatives, we have shows here in the Wheeling,WV area that are liberal or at least moderates. There are also liberals on Pittsburgh radio station KDKA that is a 50000 watt non-Clear Channel station. I agree with him when he said Kerry hasn't given the swing voter a reason to vote for him other than "I am not Bush". That may work for us but for the average person that doesn't follow the current events that closely it doesn't give them a compelling reason to vote for Kerry. Where are our local, state, and national surrogates for Kerry? Ohio, West Virginia and and Pennsylvania are all critical states for the election!

has no local organization out working in support of Kerry. He said he gave a talk to the DNC a few years ago on the subject and it fell on deaf ears. In this area the state representative for the Bush campaign and the local one who happens to be a WV State Rep. are out talking up Bush and spreading the word about Kerry's flip-flops weekly. The people we need to convert are the swing voters not the ABB's. Our elected officials Federal, state and local should be out beating the bushes for votes also. Or are they afraid to support him, figuring he is just an also ran like Dukakis was. This is from a Liberal talk show host that is on our side who follows and knows more about politics than I claim to.

4. GRASS ROOTS!! Does that phrase still have meaning? |
|
Local talk radio stations should be on page one of lists of places for Dem candidates to visit in any state.
Local radio station owners should also make the cadidiates very aware of their desire to have the candidates on. By that I mean, bug them relentlessly. We must make them work for us, remember?

5. This is a great opportunity for people who believe the Democratic Party |
|
has abandoned their values. You can fill the void YOURSELF, without waiting for official party pronouncements, thus helping to create public consensus that the party will then be forced to accommodate.
