Obama Blasting Publisher Gave Hillary Grand

Philadelphia Gay News publisher Mark Segal’s no doubt pleased with this week’s edition.

His paper made a splash yesterday when it published both an extensive interview with Hillary Clinton and a big, blank middle finger to Barack Obama, who PGN accuses of avoiding the pink press. But an Obama interview isn’t the only thing missing from the paper.

Segal - who did the Clinton interviewed and also penned an exhaustive editorial bashing Obama’s - failed to disclose that he donated $1,000 to the Clinton campaign back in March of 2007.

That would have made for a good front page.

he also enables duplicitous politicians like Rendell who harm the LGBT community. Segal's commitment to LGBT rights--and, to be clear, it's really just gay men he cares about (and, not to put too fine a point on it, middle and upper middle class white gay men--the paper has an ignominious history on lesbian issues and issues dealing with people of color)--begins and ends at the boundaries of his ego. His coverage of LGBT of color and lesbian issues has been abominable--in a city with a 50% black population. His view of activists has been even worse. He HATED ACT-UP and Queer Nation while he worked overtime to ingratiate himself to Rendell (then mayor of Philadelphia); his distaste for the activist community continues to this day.

I mean....how can a interview NOT being granted in the heat of a campaign be news, unless there are those who want it to be.

They could have ran an article based on what he's said and done to date....but NOOOOoooo....got to make it appear that he is deliberately trying NOT to give them interview.
