Bill Richardson better choice for VP than Joe Biden? Please explain. (Obama's VP) |
|
I just want to hear about these two choices please. In my opinion I have always thouught Biden was far superior to Richardson, in fact I thought Richardson would be terrible actually until he enodrsed Obama. The endorsement speech showed passion and eloquence that I didnt know he had until then. I was really impressed and I am seeing him in a different light and seriously considering what it would be like with him on the ticket for the first time. I like both men for their honesty but I think Biden just presents a wealth of knowledge that Richardson dosent have. What say you?

1. I think Joe would be a better VP than Richardson, but Richardson would help more with the GE |
|
plus Richarsdson would still be a fantastic VP.

36. Actually, Richardson seemed quite inarticulate on FP to me in the debates, for all his "experience" |
|
Richardson has a diverse resume but Biden is far superior in intellect and knowlege and accomplishments to me.

There are underlaying racial tensions between blacks and hispanics. I think that ticket would have the potential to overcome that.

8. As much as I hate saying this, I think Richardson's ethnicity is a liability here. |
|
Having a ticket composed of the first African-American and the first Hispanic-American might be too much. Remember that the electorate is still >75% white.

Obama would be better off with a VP candidate with some executive experience...

11. My Question Re: Biden\Richardson Is... |
|
Two people, three slots.
VP, Sec of State, and Sec of Defense.
I'd go Richardson as VP for help with the Latino vote, but he'd also make a great Secretary of State.
With Biden, I'm not sure if he's better suited for State or Defense.
:shrug:
Anybody wanna fill the three slots just fer the fun of it?
I'd probably go:
VP = Richardson
State = Biden
Defense = Fallon
:shrug:

Richardson would be a good pick based on geographical, foreign policy, being a governor, and being a Hispanic. So it better be good...

|
I know it's a Delaware thing...but I still have a problem with anyone putting the banks and credit card industry ahead of struggling consumers and workers.
Richardson being an experienced Western governor along with his foreign policy experience, and yes, his Hispanic heritage would bring a lot to the ticket.

Haven't we been listening? We're finally getting YOUNG PEOPLE out to vote with a fresh, energetic, charismatic, intelligent, exciting candidate who doesn't have a gazillion years of "Washington Insider" baggage and you want to attach the Joe Biden anchor to him? Might as well just give up now.

|
Richardson would balence both of those out.
I like Biden, but he's older, he's a senator, and I don't know if he would pull any new voters into the mix.
That being said they are both good choices.

Richardson as Secretary of State
and if Obama won the primary, I think Jim Webb would make an excellent VP for him.
You can expect the GOP to play the "War Hero" card quite a bit and Webb would be a great foil for that.

but with Richardson you have New Mexico (lost in '04) and a good shot at Colorado and Nevada. Maybe make McCain spend time and money on Texas as well.

|
Lol - anyone that follows C-Span knows that Biden had Condi sweating profusely on several occassions while she was in the hot seat infront of the SFRC and the Judicial cmte.
That would be one debate I would love to see :rofl:
Other than taking on Condi 1:1 - it would be a waste. Biden is too talented to be VP.

that Richardson doesn't. Richardson has probably one of the most vast experiences in his past service especially in world affairs and negotiations. In fact, I would be happy with Biden as VP and Richardson as Secretary of State (or vice versa) with Samantha Power somewhere in the mix (maybe UN Ambassador).

He would be completely wasted in the VP position. And his presence on the ticket doesn't help with any key demographics (in Richardson's case, the Hispanic vote).
