Is Obama allowed to announce his VP and recruits now?
Is there any legalities preventing Obama announcing his Veep now? And are you allowed to announce your adminstration like secretary of state before the general election?

I think it would be wise for Obama to announce at least a chunk of his nominees for key positions before the general election just to garner greater support. I'd put Sebelius Veep, Richardson Secretary of State, Al Gore Environment minister, John Edwards - Healthcare, etc.

1. I Don't Think That Would Be Wise At All
And I doubt he can.

4. Yes, he can, and there's precedent
Reagan, 1976.

3. no legalities, but not politically wise, remember Hillary already did it
with proposing that Obama be the vp to her even if he is ahead.

6. It would be wise
Ok maybe announcing before hillary steps out of the race won't be a wise move, but I think it'll be wise to announce after he gains the democratic nominee but before the general election. Like announcing Bill Richardson as a potential Secretary of State will attract the majority of Latino Votes. Kathleen Sebelius attracts a chunk of women voters, etc etc etc

12. Officially announce? I don't think he should - but he COULD do this...
On various campaign stops, he could possibly say something along the lines of this: "I'm going to bring in a lot of smart and competent people into my administration. Someone like a Joe Biden for Secretary of State, John Edwards for Attorney General, etc."

13. It'd be disrespectful to some voters to do it now
but after voting, if he goes over the "magic number" I personally wouldn't have a problem with it, especially if McCain has chosen one already. In the meantime, I'd just have the person in mind, accompany him on lots of campaign stops and call him my "ally in this process"

it would be arrogant. We should not underestimate John McCaine. We have a real election in Nov.

15. Obama is not a presumtious person, he probably has his choice in
his mind already but has too much class and good manners to announce such a decision.

16. Announcing now would be a help to republicans
Suppose he said I want Clinton, then McCain would pick Huckubee to take Arkansas,
Otherwise he would take Romney.
Or one of his picks was on the phone talking to a crime ring (republicans), the media would feed for 2 weeks.
