GD:P needs a dose of this: |
|
April 7, 2008 People Who Don’t Get It Compassion for All You may be someone who understands the true nature of reality, perceiving deeply that we all emanate from the same source, that we are all essentially one, and that we are here on Earth to love one another. To understand this is to be awakened to the true nature of the self, and this understanding is a blessing. Nevertheless, people who just do not get it are seemingly everywhere and, often, occupy positions of power. It can be frustrating and painful to watch them behave unconsciously. We all encounter individuals such as this in our families, at work, and in all areas of public life. It is easy to find ourselves feeling intolerant of these people, wishing we could be free of them even though we know that separation from them is an illusion. It helps sometimes to think of us all as different parts of one psyche. Within our own hearts and minds we have dark places that need healing, just as the heart and mind of the world have their dark places. The health of the whole organism depends upon the relative health of the individuals within it. We increase harmony when we hold on to the light, not allowing it to be clouded by judgment, anger, and fear about those who behave unconsciously. It is easier to accomplish this if we don’t focus on the negative qualities of individuals and instead on how increasing our own light will increase that of the overall picture. When dealing with people who seem very unconscious, it helps to remember that everyone must find their own way to awakening, and that the experiences they are having are an essential part of their process. Holding them in the glow of our energy may be the best way to awaken theirs. At the same time, we are inspired by their example to look within and shed light on our own unconscious places, sacrificing the urge to judge and surrendering instead to humble self-inquiry.

1. helderheid, could you give me the footnotes to your post |
|
I'm not quite sure what the theme of your post is. I'm not being sarcastic, but just wanted you to simplify your post for me. :)

2. Basically we're on the same side and not to get too irked by the negativity that has been so |
|
prevalent as of late here. Try to focus on the positive. :)

11. If a candidate has many negatives, it needs to be focused on. Does... |
|
not help our country at all to play pollyanna when a candidate is lying, cheating, insulting her opponent's supporters, involved with scandal after scandal, etc.
Also, as Sun Tzu said, "It takes many kinds of soldiers to win a battle." Some posters here are natural diplomats, and I honor them for that tactic. Others are more like leaders: they can change the direction of a folder by the way they post. Some of us are warriors, and we naturally are more aggressive in our approach.
All approaches are important, and none is worth more than the other. As long as the poster is being honest and not posting unethically, and also not using personal attacks, all approaches are valid and helpful.
You saw what happened to our country when the Democrats in Congress silenced their warriors and did nothing but diplomacy, caving in time and time again. Is that what we want for our party? Or do we want them to allow their natural warriors in Congress to do the unpleasant work that the natural diplomats don't want to do, or can't do.
Anyway, just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

15. A very valuable response, though I'm not suggesting we "play pollyanna" here. I'm suggesting |
|
that GD : P has become quite toxic as of late and wanted to throw a post out there to remember we are all together here on DU, no matter whom we support, and to also remember what it is that ties us together.

4. If you seek enlightenment you must be most of all be humble. |

I think it is in here because the author is urging that Obama supporters show restraint in their attacks on Clinton supporters - but I could be wrong.

 It's something one either "gets" or doesn't -- it's very much a matter of personal experience.
