<snip>

The presidential campaign of John Kerry began running a biographical television ad in Virginia yesterday that emphasizes his service in the military and the U.S. Senate.

The campaign reportedly has bought $750,000 of TV network ad time in the Richmond, Norfolk and Roanoke markets. The ad buy in Northern Virginia is on cable TV.

The 60-second commercial features testimony by two of Kerry's fellow servicemen in Vietnam who say he saved their lives. Kerry, as a Navy lieutenant aboard a swift boat in Vietnam, earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. He later turned against the war and became a prominent anti-war spokesman.

The ad seems to play down Kerry's patrician background by portraying him as a military brat.

By the way, this newspaper is very slanted to the right. You'll notice when you click the link, that as you read on, there are more jabs at Kerry. I emailed the author. Here's what I wrote:

Mr. Whitley:

Regarding your article, "Kerry TV ad in Va. stresses his service," you wrote:

"It doesn't mention that Kerry went to exclusive Swiss finishing schools and that his mother was from a prominent Boston family...Left unsaid was that this "decisive vote" was for the Clinton tax increase, mostly on the rich. Every Democrat in the Senate voted for the tax increase and every Republican voted against it in 1993."

Nice of you to be so "objective" in your reporting.

1. This is bad news for Team Bush

Virginia wasn't on the original list of states where this ad would run. The fact that it's on the air there now has got to be bad news for Jr.

2. I haven't seen any commercials on cable news for Kerry yet (the
optimist ads), but plenty for Bush since the announcement was made that the new ads would be running.

Bush sucks ass.
