My idea for Ohio (stealing from Al Franken a bit) |
|
Ohio allows you to register to vote 30 days before the election. Al has been trying to get people from "safe" or "probably lost" states to relocate to Ohio for the month before the election.
My idea is universities - how 'bout getting all those kids from Texas, New York, or California who go to school in Ohio to establish residency here and instead of voting via absentee ballots in their own states, registering and voting in Ohio. Besides the obvious help to Ohio, it makes voting easier which could get some to vote who might not bother to do the absentee thing.
Whatcha think?

1. i don't think it will make much of a difference |

better would be to get those students and others to just help with grassroots campaigning and get others to vote. i think the whole relocation thing is putting too much effort into something where the return would not be as great. just focus on getting others to vote. that's what everyone should do.

They have some sort of slippery law that prevents out-of-state college students from establishing residency. Or at least they did, once upon a time. I suspect the same might be true in Ohio college towns.
