On they hypocrisy of "cutting off the nose to spite the face"
Edited on Mon Apr-07-08 02:38 PM by bunnies
We see it on DU all the time. People being bashed for saying they wont vote for x or y. "You're not a real Democrat" "Youre an idiot" (or asshole), "You're cutting off your nose to spite your face".

Yet when it comes to Florida or Michigan, many of the same people shouting the sentiments above don't hesitate to argue that these two states must be coddled at all costs.

Why?

You know who votes in these two sates? Individuals. No different than DUers. No different than the people some are so quick to tell off. If they were here and saying... "If my vote doesnt count, I'll vote for McCain". They'd be ridiculed, ripped apart, and degraded.

Oh the hypocrisy.

So pick one. Either you hate at those who are willing to "cut of their nose" OR you bend over backwards to gain their vote.

Logically, it cant be both.

If you toss one voter, one voter, one voter... you toss an entire electorate. I dont see the difference in doing it many at once, or one at a time.

If FL and MI were individual DUers, they'd be told not to let the door hit them in the ass. So I ask you... what IS the difference?!

on edit: since its causing such a todo... I will change my own word "despite" to the usual "to spite". Its really not the point of my post anyway.

So... you're coining a new phrase now?
Or making a play on words based on the actual phrase?

Cause the actual phrase is still "to spite".

14. Just being snarky
based on your misstatement of the expression before you edited it. Don't take it personally.

11. Anybody who follows politics closely is probably aware that FL and MI will be seated in some fashion
Edited on Mon Apr-07-08 02:47 PM by John Q. Citizen
that doesn't substantially effect the current landslide victory of Obama over Clinton. Clinton is just going to have to win 70% of the vote in all the remaining primary states if she wants to change that.

Since that isn't going to happen, then what will happen is that after the nomination is officially settled, FL and MI will be seated in some fashion. That just makes good sense.

If AL and MS were individual DUers, they would have left in a huff with their friends for being called chip toothed red-necks, CA would be gone because wild fires don't really impact Californians (they are protected by latte) and every other state as well would be gone for some reason or other, except for Vermont. Somehow Vermont gets away scott free, and I'm not sure why that is, but they just do. Vermont is sneaky like that!
