Will Obama demand that Randi Rhodes be fired as he did of Imus?
As some of you already know the talent-free Rhodes has been "indefinetely" suspended from Air America for her hateful and sexist attacks on both Geraldine Ferraro and Senator Hillary Clinton.

Obama as well as many others demanded the firing of Don Imus for his hateful description of the Rutgers women's basketball team.

I'm interested to know if Obama will demand the same of Rhodes especially considering that the event where she did her stand up "comedy" and uttered her hate speech was in fact a fund raiser for Obama and the event was advertised on his website.

For once I'd like to see him walk it like he talks it.

18. the point is...obama can choose not to listen to imus as well...
i dont think that obama, or sharpton listen to him ever. so then why fire or suspend Imus if its ok elsewhere. i think racism is racism whether its in comedy or on "news" radio. lets not pick and choose who its ok with and if al sharpton was serious about advocating it, he should also do his best to make black comedians that use racism in their comedy to stop doing what they are doing.

5. Imus was on air and Randi wasnt
Imus made a disgusting statement about young college players and Randi made them about Public politica officials. Though I dont think that Imus should have been fired anyway.

8. Hillary and Ferraro are public figures. The Rutgers basketball team were young students.
I think Hillary can take care of herself, thank you very much.

Edited on Mon Apr-07-08 05:12 PM by TTUBatfan2008
Did Imus? Those two simple questions completely defeat your argument. And guess what, the event wasn't sponsored by Obama's campaign. The link you provided doesn't even work, but I have seen the actual "advertisement" and it's by a community blogger. I could have written that on my.barackobama.com...ANYONE can sign up on there and post things. It's not moderated very heavily. In fact, there have been Hillary supporters that come on there trashing Obama and their posts are not deleted.

14. The Obamists are Unhinged...
You know the inmates are running the asylum when great Democrats like Bill Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro who have long records on civil rights are called racists and huge numbers of people actually believe that.

24. Nope. Imus was wrong.
See Imus was wrong. Those were fine young women all attending college, all great student-athletes, and all headed to a bright non-ho-ish future. (I would also like to point out that their hair was also quite nice.) He made IGNORANT comments based on nothing more than his own awful sterotypes about black women. It was utterly ridiculous and outrageous. And UNNECESSARY. They didn't do anything to warrant any critcism! They weren't running for office. They were just playing basketball for their school in the NCAA tournament.

Randi... well... she was kind of right. While, I CERTAINLY would not have used the word "whore", it is well within her right to do so, is not "profane", AND is fairly consistent with an alternative meaning NOT having to do with sex. She's saying, rather crudely, that Hillary is a sellout. And while I do not agree with her choice of words, I agree with the point.

What's more, when we start getting into suspending or firing people for criticism of politicians, we get into a very dangerous area. How would we feel if a radio host we liked was suspended because they called President Bush an incompetent drunk loser jackass? The next step from there is getting people kicked off the air for saying bad things about your policies or politics or party or administration or war...

27. When AAR does some charity work and gives poor Taylor Marsh a real job
so she can stop pretending to be a radio professional.

Sadly that's what is driving this thing. Trying to get that poor woman gainful employment.

If AAR doesn't give her an honest living, poor Taylor might have to pay to get another crappy book published.
