Gov. Rendell: Clinton should dump Penn altogether
Mark Penn shouldn't just be out of his job as chief strategist for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign, he should be cut off completely from her operation, one of the senator's most important supporters says.

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell told USA TODAY's Kathy Kiely yesterday that Penn "was just dead wrong" when he took on the job of promoting a trade deal that the Colombian government wants to strike with the USA even though Clinton opposes that trade pact.

After The Wall Street Journal reported on what Penn was doing, he lost his role as Clinton's top strategist. But he is going to continue doing some polling for the campaign and will still be advising the senator.

Asked by Kathy if he would have cut Penn off completely, Rendell said "oh, I would."

Even Rendell knows what is obvious to most of us...

I can't believe what an idiot Hillary is. This seals the deal on the "judgment" argument.

1. Yes, it speaks to judgment, as well as arrogance.

8. This has become quite a joke
What the heck is wrong with Hillary? Can she shoot herself in the ass any more than this?
(rhetorical question... surely she'll prove that she can). Holy moly.

12. They think he adds a 'middle' voice to their campaign and he doesn't, he's disconnected cause he ...
...thinks Hillary would grab moderates by moving to the middle on policies and she never would

15. Rendell is a slimey POS...but I do agree with him on Penn being booted.
It is an issue of loyalty and honesty.

As I see it, if I paid someone MILLIONS of $$$ to lead my campaign, I would expect that he/she would not work against issues and principles of my campaign. What Penn did was 180 degrees from what Clinton supports. His acts betrayed her.

IMO, she is a total fool to keep him or to trust him at all. In the particular setting of PA and the Labor Union support that she seeks, it is utter insanity to keep Penn on board.

16. I disagree. I think he's doing exactly what she wants
she just doesn't want it widely known.

the proof is that she didn't actually fire him at all. If he was acting "180 degrees" from her position, he'd be gone, baby gone.

17. ...180 degrees from what she claims to support
She HAD to have known, and if we consider her having supported NAFTA, for example, it sounds as though she wanted to have her cake and eat it, too.
