1. Today's hearings are a propaganda rally for McCain. |
|
They are proclaiming, "Stay the Course"

3. The hearings make it painfully obvious that Iraq is a Vietnam style quagmire |
|
There is no resoluton. There is no "winning." We can leave next year or 10 years from now. It won't make a bit of difference. We're using our military as a band-aid to hold together a non-workable situation.
The time to leave is yesterday. Chaos will ensue. So be it.

The media is playing it as a pep rally for McCain, in my opinion.

5. I do not think any candidate benefited from todays hearings. |
|
Iraq is a mess with no easy way out. Even betrayus cannot paint a rosy picture and make any promise for a bright future. Eventually the American will demand an end and congress will shut off the money.

6. Although the SFRC hasn't convened yet, I'm pre-emptively giving the |
|
nod to Obama.
Last week's SFRC Iraq hearings seemed less constrained than today's SAFC hearings, so I'm assuming there will be more 'meat' this afternoon.
Hillary did well, though - absolutely nothing to fault her on. And I didn't feel she was just stumping (which was my concern with all of the candidates).

7. I think it will be Obama |
|
That gains the most. It is bringing the Iraq war back to the people, and shows just how lame their reasons for "staying the course" really are. Sure it may help McCain with the warmongers who want us to stay and get all the oil, but it's the people of this country that are fed up with this war, and the loss of so many of our soldiers, and innocent civilians who are dying over there. It's bad for Hillary because she can not admit her vote was a mistake, and apologize to the American people as Edwards did. It will also be bad for Hillary because as we saw today, the republicans at the hearing, which includes crazy Joe, are rattling the swords once again towards Iran, and since she voted to help Bush on that also, she better hope and pray they don't attack iran before the elections for the democratic nominee!

9. I think it's obvious that HRC will be out, McCain is a doddering old man |
|
who STILL doesn't get the Iraq/Iran/Shia/Sunni situation. Barack Obama has an opportunity to shine and ask those questions that the next POTUS would need to know when he assumes office.

11. It was kinda sad watching McCain earlier. |
|
It was like one of those procedures they use in civil court to introduce pseudo hearsay evidence -- where a lawyer questions a faux witness who reads the sworn testimony of somebody who isn't actually present.
But, in a new twist, it seems that McCain was playing both roles simultaneously.

15. From the mere standpoint that Senator Obama didn't vote to get us in this mess, the other two did. |
|
He benefits on that basis alone.
