Pat Robertson: "God Will Make Bush Win"
This is too funny. It doesn't quite come close to his call on God to kill...er..."remove" 3 SC Justices this past summer, but this is still the ravings of a lunatic.

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Friday he believes God has told him President Bush will be re-elected in a "blowout" in November.

"I think George Bush is going to win in a walk," Robertson said on his 700 Club program on the Virginia Beach-based Christian Broadcasting Network, which he founded. "I really believe I'm hearing from the Lord it's going to be like a blowout election in 2004. It's shaping up that way."

Robertson told viewers he spent several days in prayer at the end of 2003.

"The Lord has just blessed him," Robertson said of Bush. "I mean, he could make terrible mistakes and comes out of it. It doesn't make any difference what he does, good or bad, God picks him up because he's a man of prayer and God's blessing him."

Yeah, 'cuz we all know God loves massive tax cuts for the wealthy, letting the poor rot, and making war on those who call him Allah. Wasn't that Jesus' message? :eyes:

2. I was Born-Again much like Bush was
when I prayed to God over the toilet that I would never drink again. You got to love Robertson, always setting himself up for a fall.

3. isn't it wonderful
Bush could make "terrible mistakes" and still be re-elected. I wonder how terrible those mistakes could be for Pat to keep standing by him. Certainly removes whatever veil of non-partisanship the old bastard is trying to keep up.

If he would just come out and say "I am a tool for the Republicans" this man would be so much easier to tolerate.

6. Robertson is playing the game
Edited on Fri Jan-02-04 05:59 PM by Marianne
he is a millionaire three times over--and his, like Bush, is playing a game here. He knows there are millions of wide eyed ignoramus' ready to send them their entire Social Security check. And do not forget, Bush GAVE Robertson some faith based money already!! Some $500,000 of OUR money was GIVEN to this insane person for his charity! Yes indeed--we have, in effect, contributed to Robertson and his charities. Anyone ever looked into that charity? I know of one Christain who has and he did make sense to me--he uncovered what Robertson "buys" in order to supply those in need--that included na inordinate amount of candy, and panty hose==all from the latest corporations willing to donate. Check out Charles Henderson's research on Pat Robertson's charities.Operation blessing or some some other shit

http://christianity.about.com/library/weekly/aa100302.htm

I am grateful I do not believe in any god--for those who do, I feel sorry for you. I do like this Charles Henderson though and get his newsletter on a regular basis just to keep up with things.

You all must somehow reconcile Robertson's idea of god with yours, and then, of course, that would lead to "sides" in the religion column. Henderson is willing to do this, but alas, he is in the minoritym, it seems to me.

And isn't that what we are currently killing other human beings or attempting to kill their religion, because it is not the "right" religion? It is attempting to kill them and kill their religion, out of this world by killing them and their leaders and converting them to Christianity,a la Anne Coulter, which I have come to believe is now totally joined at the hip with corporatism and fascism under Bush. I could be wrong, but is not this the same Christianity all over the world? If not, how is it different and how did it come to be the religion of fascism?

9. Shades of Oral Roberts...
My first reaction when I read this news was, "Yes! Robertson has finally set himself up for his biggest fall from grace since he dicked up the whole Bank of Scotland deal! Now all we have to do is keep remembering what he said so when Bush does lose, we can finally stick Robertson's nose in it!"

And then I remembered Oral Roberts and his "God will call me home if I don't raise X-amount of millions of dollars" stunt, and how when he failed to make the money he was required to keep from being "called home," it didn't matter, because it was a sign to the "faithful" (read as: clueless, ignorant, gullible, etc.) of God's mercy.

This will be the same case: When Bush goes down in flames come November, Robertson will pull his "Satan's hand," claiming that God gave up on America just like He did on September 11, and the flock will believe him and call it the end of the world.

We can only hope that Robertson and his followers go the Apocalyptic route and try to catch a ride on the next available comet (ala "Heaven's Gate").
