Another smear job on Obama - Collins/autorank responds Scoop

http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0804/S00106.htm">Breathless Attack Journalism or the Real Issues

Column: Michael Collins

"If he becomes the nominee, all the Democrats in America will be viewed by
the rest of the world as either utterly stupid, or totally corrupt." Evelyn Pringle
Barack Obama - Operation Board Games For Slumlords Evelyn Pringle, April 7, 2008

By Michael Collins
"Scoop" Independent News
Washington, D.C.

I guess that means "the whole world is watching." They've already expressed their opinion of our government and it's not a pretty picture. It has to do with real issues.

Does the "Operation Board Games for Slumlords" article, others like it, or the attacks from the presidential candidates bear any relationship to the real issues that we face as a nation?

Evelyn Pringle delivers a breathless and excoriating critique of Barack Obama based on his past connections to civic and business figures in Illinois. This effort follows her series opener on Obama, "The Wizard of Oz. In that effort we learned that "Obama is a political psychopath."

And now for something completely different - Real Issues

2. The most amusing part
is right near the beginning, where Pringle points to a history of corruption in Chicago housing stretching 'from 1989 to 1998'. Of course, in 1989 Barack Obama was still studying law at Harvard and would not even practice law in Chicago for another 4 years. But I guess it is somehow his fault anyway.

12. It's very strange stuff...a "political psychopath"
Obama did serve a "co presidency" when 1.3 million people were killed in the 90's Iraqi embargo, half a million of them were children. I guess it takes a village to raise a child but a mindless policy to kill a half million of them.

5. I was going to post this is s well..
How many Crooked Rezko Creeps are involved with Obama and his campaign...EVEN NOW!!!???

Daley had appointed Nesbitt commissioner of the Housing Authority on July 9, 2003, and he served as vice chairperson of the Board since January 17, 2006.

Nesbitt is also vice president of the Pritzker Realty Group, where he procures new real estate investment opportunities, retail investments and developments for the Pritzker Group, according to the CHA web site. A quick trip to the Huffington Post site showed tens of thousands of dollars donated to Obama from people with the last name Pritzker in the Chicago area but many people are listed as homemaker or not employed or information requested, so its impossible to sort them out.

Nesbitt is treasurer for Obama's presidential campaign according to the Center for Public Integrity. Over his political career, Nesbitt has contributed more than $10,000 to Obama's campaigns.

Michelle Obama was hired as an assistant in Daley's office by Valerie Jarrett, Daley's deputy chief of staff in 1991. When Daley appointed Jarrett chairman of the Office of Planning and Development, Michelle became her assistant.

Jarrett is now CEO of the real estate development and management firm, called Habitat, which manages the housing program for the Chicago Housing Authority.

The Commission on Chicago landmarks "is responsible for recommending to the City Council that individual buildings, sites, objects, or entire districts be designated as Chicago Landmarks, thereby providing legal protection," according to the government web site.

Daley appointed Michelle to serve on the Chicago Landmark Commission. The current chairman of the Commission is Daley's former chief of staff, David Mosena.

Mosena was a member of Obama's US Senate Finance Committee in 2004, with other members that included Valerie Jarrett, Tony Rezko, Rita Rezko, and Allison Davis. The committee raised more than $14 million, according to Federal Election Commission records, cited by Novak in the Sun-Times on April 23, 2007. Jarrett serves as an advisor to Obama's presidential campaign.

15. Here's my point
Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 11:25 PM by autorank
And I'm not making it from bias for Obama because the people I supported are long gone,
you can do the same and much worse to Hillary. What does it mean? Unless you've got
pictures of either of them suffering cash into their pockets, it's just tit for tat. That's
the way the system is rigged, and it stinks. But to string together a bunch of associations
is meaningless unless you do both candidates at the same time and then say, WHERE ARE THE ISSUES.

http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0804/S00106.htm
Real issue 2: The survival of the human species is at risk as a result of our relentless fouling
of the environment. Along with the polar bears, we may become extinct. That is the ultimate existential
issue. Since we produce many of the toxins that threaten the world's population, we're expected to
offer some assistance and leadership.

Are the devastating threats from a degraded environment a hot topic in this campaign?

What are the candidates saying about the specific human loss and suffering that will result from a
failure to take action in the immediate future?

16. "Come to the light"
Well, not quite yet;)

What a double standard this is. It's like those pictures of this or that political figure with
a gangster. Gee, anybody can get a picture with a politician. They're not interviewed. But
this ham fisted attack article doesn't even have that. It's a series of names of people Obama
has encountered and their supposed ill deeds.

Clean up the whole system and, in the mean time, how about a real issue or two:

And Now for something entirely different - the Real Issues

Real Issue 1:
We invaded a country that had not attacked us or threatened to attack us. The
invasion was based on lies. The lies were known to the president and the legislature at the time. The
invasion has resulted in the death of 1.2 million Iraqis; the death and injury of tens of thousands of
U.S. citizens; the orphaning of 5.0 million Iraqis; the displacement of millions from Baghdad … and
we're still fighting.

We have not apologized. We have not tried to seriously compensate for the death and damage.

We don't have a candidate or party that acts as though this is a matter of grave urgency.

We don't have one candidate from either party who will mention the more than 1 million dead Iraqi civilians.

8. "you're no robert kennedy"
Whew, glad she got that part right, when the hack writes:

"And when Kennedy turned to the reporters traveling with him, with tears in his eyes he asked a single question about poverty in America: 'How can a country like this allow it?'"

"Forty years later," Obama said, "we're still asking that question."

First of all, "Barack Obama you are no Robert Kennedy," and we're still asking the question because the careers of politicians like Obama are funded by a political mafia which has turned helping the poor into a cottage industry.

Well, I'm no Jonathan Swift, nor Martinus Scibblerus, but I suspect it's a cottage industry because Unitedstatesians can no longer cook. As Swift wrote about the poor:

"I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout."

Speaking of real issues, Ms. Pringle misses an obvious between-the-lines damning fact about Obama. He's a murder-for-hire hitman. Look how patently obvious this is, from the end of Pringle's chip shot:

Gary Poter owned the construction company that rehabbed all of Rezmar's buildings. He was stabbed to death in May 2006, supposedly by a disgruntled employee, according to the Times "Rezmar who's who" list. Back on March 3, 2004, Poter donated $2,000 to Obama's US senate campaign and on July 19, 2004, he gave Obama another $1,000.

The donation obviously compensates Obama for slipping the knife in Poter's guts. If Pringle can miss so obvious a fact, how can I help but discount all her other stuff? I cannot.

Thanx, Collins, for calling my attention to Pringle's article. Makes me wish I were teaching journalism somewhere, as Pringle offers a beauteous example of innuendo and swagger (sheer wild ass guessing, groping, egregious ratshit).

regards, and recommended,
mvs

20. Unitedstatesian!
I like it. Solves the ambiguous "American" problem for me.

I agree on the poor guy who got "stabbed to death." Talk about ham fisted innuendo, and we just did.

Just because we can't cook, well most of us can't, doesn't mean we can get it ready made at Whole Foods.

Thanks for the Swift! How prophetic too ... "a very knowing American of my acquaintance" ...

19. You're welcome. There is a limit.
That "political psychopath" line in the first article really struck me. Very strange.

I think Pennsylvania will be very interesting. As much as they tried at DNC, they couldn't
make this a three month primary. What a ride.

the conclusion that it would have been nice if hilary had talked about her own issues without lying, of course, and not tried to smear Obama all this time..But, it's doing her more damage for the long run and that can't be a bad thing.

21. Evelyn Pringle has ignored a minor point
when GWB was selected a second time all Americans were viewed by the rest of the world "as either utterly stupid, or totally corrupt"

When Obama (or Clinton) is elected it will be a step towards the US being respected

I've had these discussions with visitors from another land and the minute I hear any condescension about our political judgment, I'm happy to point out that Gore won and so did Kerry, it's a rigged game which we cannot vote out;)
