She clearly isn't well, so she doesn't' look sincere.

It just does not work. They should dump it, quickly.

1. Personally
I like the youth one and the mother one best. There are four new ones...and they will all be played constantly this week...probably four new ones lined up for next week. For every one Hillary add expect 4 Obama ads.

Meanwhile Hillary is putting Nutter and Rendell out there....Nutter good surrogate...Fast Eddie..lets just say if I had the choice I'd rather have Casey's endorsement than Fast Eddie...

his multi-cultured background.

17. I liked it, too.
BTW: His sister is very beautiful. In fact...it seems like everyone in his family is very attractive.

4. I like it.

It's geared towards women and it's showing the generations of women (and girls!) in Barack's life. That it highlights the various ethnicities that comprise the Obama family is an added bonus.

His grandmother is old. There's nothing to be ashamed of in that. I'm glad that I got the opportunity to see and hear her.

5. They didn't do her hair
Every elderly woman will have a problem with it at a deep level.

It wasn't sufficiently dignified.

9. Yes they did!
Just because it wasn't styled in the old-lady "tight perm" doesn't mean it wasn't done. I think she looked nice.

11. Nope.
It wasn't right.

I'm uncomfortable talking about this further, so I won't.

Except to say, this will not be received well, even if not in the press. People whose grandmother's were (are) like her aren't going to react in the way the campaign hopes.

No more.

...that is how she has always worn her hair. Why should she change it?

6. I'm glad she's there, too.
It wouldn't be like Obama to leave her out in a family ad.

10. It's geared towards middle-aged women.
Care to elaborate how you're an expert regarding that demographic?

21. Some ads play well during certain times of the day
I've been in advertising for many years and that ad would not play well on at certain times. You target market ads and write, produce and make the full intention of using ads for specific times.

If you could delineate where the grandmother (who is on for 2 seconds) makes the ad "fail", then I'd like to see your analysis. If you did a storyboard of the ad, you see that it is focusing on middle and older women. Obama already has the young woman demographic down.

12. not every ad works for every person
Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 09:11 PM by SunsetDreams
what I hear you saying is the ad didn't work for you

It doesn't mean that your opinion is the end all, be all, no offense.

I happened to like the ad, but I know there are some who may not share that feeling.

15. Maybe she wanted to be in the ad. Ever thought of that?
If she did, then she is in it.

I'm sure she wasn't forced. She 85 years old, not 105!
