Hillary excuse 1,245: Obama is outspending me! (4/8/2008)
Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 09:19 PM by KansasVoter
In what has to be the most amazing comment yet by the Hillary camp: They are complaining about being outspent.

So I guess Obama being prepared to raise more money is a bad thing. I always thought someone who could motivate people to donate money to their campaign was a good sign. Maybe it is a sign that the candidate had supporters who love him more than their hard earned money. And especially from Obama, who has raised small amounts of money from over a million donors. And isn’t Obama’s ability to raise money a positive for the general election?

Hillary makes it sound like if she had collected $40 million dollars in March, like Obama did, she would have not spent any of it because it would not have been “fair” to Obama. But Hillary raised so little that she would not even announce her numbers until the “legal” deadline on 4/22. That is a bad sign.

And Ed Rendell, who looks more and more like Hillary’s lap dog, is also saying a 5 to 8 point win would be huge because Hillary is being outspent 3 to 1. It is amazing that you can admit that your opponent is a better campaigner and better at raising money than you and that is why you are losing. Rendell has to be the most biased and unrealistic surrogate Hillary has ever had. And how, when Hillary was leading by 25 points two weeks ago, you can be happy with a 5-10 point win, is beyond me.

Here is what I think Ed Rendell’s next comments could be about Obama:

“Obama is really great at making speeches so a 5 point win is a huge victory for Hillary”

“Hillary is happy her lead has dropped from 25 to 5 points because Obama is just so darn young and a 5 point win against a really young guy is great.”

“Hillary will be happy with a 5 point loss in PA because Obama’s ‘Change’ message is just really difficult to compete with.”

“A 5 point loss in PA for Hillary is a huge win because Obama won some other states by 20 points and 5 points is less than 20 points so it is actually a big win for Hillary.”

It gets to the point where you wonder is Rendell is just acting on his own or being told what to say by the Hillary camp. I understand blind support but at some point it just makes you look like a fool.

I really hope that Hillary stops with the excuses and just runs the rest of the campaigns on the topics and doesn’t try to lower expectations. It makes her look desperate and she has no reason to look desperate.

Complaining about Obama’s money is like complaining about Obama’s campaign being more organized. It doesn’t make you look better; it makes you look less ready to run the general election.

1. I want her to loan more money
Nice single to the supers who is the strongest candidate. The one who can raise money on his own by simply sending out an email asking or the one who begs publically than dips into her own coffers.

3. I am more than willing to bet if Hillary had the money
she would be outspending Obama. She once had a crapload of money, more than anybody else. Did she have to spend it on a campaign rather than a coronation? Let's break out the violins.

6. note to hillary
When the other has more votes, he probably has more supporters.

Next thing she'll blame McCain & Feingold for forcing a system on her that, yuck, the people are the people who have to donate to your campaign.

35. I don't know why but that picture reminds me of...
... the Sound of Music when the kids are singing:

So long farewell, auf weidersehen goodnight
I leave and heave a sigh and say good bye - goodbyyyyyyeeeee!

I think they did a similar little salute in the song or something. Combine that with the cheesy look on her face.

Auf weidersehen Fräulein Hillary!

9. And the media is running with it as usual......
"He's outspending her 5 to 1", they say...."that's the ONLY reason he's gaining on her.

If he wasn't gaining on her, then he would have a problem"

I'm so fucking tired of this asshole media till it ain't even funny. They don't like that he's got the money and she doesn't. Guess they'll have to come up with "something" to level out the playing field. They always do. :eyes:

17. Glad to see this post up today. I was going to post the same myself.
I'm sick of this "outspending HRC" garbage. Just because she built her donor base on fewer large well-heeled donors vs. Obama's huge grass-roots base we are supposed to feel sorry for her? She has displayed rotten administrative, strategic, and tactical skills during the primary campaign, a good indicator that she really doesn't have the wherewithal to be President. It's not a "fault" of Obama's that he has the money to spend and is much more effective at building a larger base of donors. Sheesh!

38. Hehehehehe
Just a small snippet from an overseas piece about Penn....

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/hillarys-mr-fixit-the-rise-and-fall-of-mark-penn-805805.html

The tensions between Mr Penn and advisors occasionally burst into the open as when Clinton campaign operatives gathered in her headquarters in Arlington, Virginia to preview a TV commercial. "Your ad doesn't work," Mr Penn yelled at Mandy Grunwald, one of the Clinton's closest friends in the advertising business. "Oh, it's always the ad, never the message," Ms Grunwald fired back, in a clash that got so heated that the campaign's political director Guy Cecil left the room, saying, "I'm out of here."

That 'got so heated' part makes me wish someone would come out with more juicy details. :P

34. Hillary as underdog = does not compute
Sorry, but when you have a name everyone has known for the better part of 20 years and you're the presumptive nominee as soon as you've declared your candidacy, you don't get to be the underdog--no matter what the situation.

37. Yeah, but see she had a BIG financial advantage...
... and none of the other candidates moaned about it.

But the public isn't giving her anymore cash since her campaign went negative and she proved herself to be a LIAR. Why should we feel sorry for her because she alienated her own donors? It's her own fault she doesn't have the money. It's been a poorly run campaign and HIGHLY fiscally irresponsible. And that is FACT.
