THE END of "BookBag-Gate." Yes, they were around in the 60s. PROOF. Now apologize to Hillary.
Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 09:48 PM by Skip Intro

Just took a little googling...

NYT article from 1963:

------------------------
BOOK BAGS ABROAD; 'Lunch Bag' Bag Has Many Uses Methods of Carrying

By ELIZABETH DICKENS

May 19, 1963, Sunday

LAST year, when she heard that my sister and I were going to spend the summer in Europe, a young Radcliffe student gave us each a sturdy, green book bag. I thanked her prettily, wondering what in thunder I should...

http://select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=FB0717FE3C5A157B93CBA8178ED85F478685F9

-----------------------

Here's another one:

-----------------------
MORE ON BOOK BAGS; A Campus Tradition For Shoppers, Too MORE ABOUT THE BOOK BAG Different Versions Many Uses

By PHYLLIS MERASThe New York Times (by Sam Falk)

June 2, 1963, Sunday

WHAT is a book bag? This question has been besieging The Times Travel Section since May 19, when there appeared, on Page 1, an article entitled "Book Bags Abroad."

http://select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F70C11F73F581A7B93C0A9178DD85F478685F9

-------------------------

Now, you have to pay to read the actual articles, but it seems pretty damned clear, from the titles and the snips, that book bags were indeed real, and known to college students, as early as 1963.

I'll hold my breath for apologies to Hillary for yet again calling her a liar based on nothing but bullshit.

A green cloth, drawstring type bag you flung over your shoulder but had to keep hold of the drawstrings. Guys could finally have a bag to keep their books without it being girly girl.

I went to college in Brooklyn, NY and didn't use one but we saw them and they were considered cool. I wouldn't doubt that Hillary used one.

It's because your candidate lies about so many things, that the American people can no longer take at face value ANYTHING that she says.

Every single statement she makes now has to be fact-checked.....

This unfortunate situation exists because your candidate is a pathological liar.

59. Allow me a nazistic moment
Enough of this-gate and that-gate.

The "Watergate Scandal" was so named because it involved a break-in of Democratic offices located in the Watergate hotel complex in Washington, DC.

The Watergate scandal was not an incident involving water, with "gate" appended to let everyone know it was also a scandalous issue. It was the name of a freaking hotel.

There was no "Wright-Gate", no "Sniper-Gate", and no "Bookbag-Gate". There were incidents, events, statements, misstatements, and maybe a lie or two. It is a sign of intellectual laziness to attempt to elevate an issue to the same level as Watergate with the ridiculous attachment of "Gate" to each and every news buzzword of the hour.

I'll discuss the incorrect usage of "issue" versus "problem" later!
