Canadians Prefer Obama
ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A new Canadian Press Harris/Decima survey asked Canadians who they hoped to see become the next US President. The results show:

A plurality (39%) hope Barack Obama becomes the next US President, followed by 30% who prefer Hillary Clinton, and 8% John McCain. The rest offered no opinion.

This represents a major swing in preference away from Senator Clinton in the last three months. A poll in early January saw Senator Clinton with an 11-point edge over Senator Obama with this lead dropping to 3 points by mid-February, followed by the swing to Obama in front by nine points today.

Senator Obama is most popular in Ontario and Alberta where he has the support of 42% and 44% of respondents compared to 28% and 21% for Senator Clinton.

Senator Obama also led among all age groups, but his support was fully double that of Senator Clinton among those under 25 (54% Obama, 27% Clinton).

Men more heavily favoured Obama (44% Obama, 25% Clinton, 13% McCain) than did women. However, Senator Obama also has a slight lead among female voters (34% compared to 33% for Senator Clinton and 4% for Senator McCain).

Mr. Obama is preferred across vote intention lines. His lead is smallest among Conservative voters, 36% of whom prefer Obama, compared to 31% for Hillary Clinton, but still only 19% for John McCain.

When asked who they thought would win the Presidency, fully 44% said that Senator Obama will go on to win, 19% felt Senator McCain would win, while only 17% foresaw a second President Clinton.

4. It's funny cause Alberta is predominantly conservative...
...Maybe the anti-Bush sentiment weighed in broadly all over the country. I think that Ontario has a solid conservative wing too, somebody correct me If I'm wrong.

Toronto is the largest city in Canada and i have never once met someone who prefers Hillary over Obama...If the election were here i swear Ontario would go 90-10 for Obama....and Canada is more white than the U.S....we just are more tolerant of diversity than you guys are.

16. Canadians are....well Canadian.
I love my neighbor to the North and will probably move to Montreal if McSame wins the election. However, as of now, Canadians are unable to vote in US elections. So who gives a rat's behind who they prefer.

29. I work with a number of Canadians
over here in Korea and all of them that I have talked to are hoping Obama wins the election. I've even gotten some of them in our office (along with Americans) to put up Obama signs on their desks.

To those who say, "who the fuck cares what Canada thinks", remember that's pretty much the same thing GW has been doing since he took office.
