And I won't complain if/when Hillary's campaign sees his dickishness and raises him one douchebaggery.

4. This is the sort of good-natured old-fashioned dickishness we need in the campaign on both sides. |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 09:58 AM by IanDB1
This is more like throwing a pie than tossing a grenade.
Now, what would have been unacceptable would be if the concert tickets were fake.
Maybe Hillary can set-up a dodge-the-sniper-fire booth during one of Obama's speeches. College kids love paintball.

34. While I Don't Care for the Term Being Used |
|
Obama's move was similar to what people used to do in radio station wars in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Seems typical, but you have to consider those were the days when people were purposely divided and set against each other for the sake of gaining ratings.
Doesn't really jibe with being the "unity candidate."

38. Yeah, that's JUST what I wrote, that I was voting for McCain |
|
:eyes:
All three rate RIGHT> AUTHORITARIAN on the political compass. All three will kiss up to major corporations if in office. McCain is OBVIOUSLY the most repugnant and vile of them all. I've never been a fan of Hillary, and though Obama's positions leave a load to be desired, he himself is less abrasive than Hillary and has a better chance against McCain, imho. However, his most fervent followers are some of the most hostile, knee jerk reactionary posters that have ever hit these boards. It's a turn off, period. Does the Obama campaign REALLY need to use donor dollars to buy DAVE MATTHEWS TICKETS? Are they so afraid of what the other side has to say that they'll squander campaign cash just so that students don't hear them? That move is simply pathetic. I pray that Obama himself didn't rubber stamp that one, because it's the kind of shit that republicans pull.

37. IU has a HUGE campus - it can take over 20 minutes to walk from one end to the other |
|
Now, had they gone in and interrupted the speech - breaking in to say something like "Now, in IU Memorial Hall, the Obama campaign is giving out free tickets for the concert - that would be bad. Should the campus only have one class at a time too.

8. It's fair and funny. And it wasn't Sen. Clinton who was speaking anyway. |
|
I find it as offensive as Sen. Clinton alerting the press that she is making a concession speech (from a prior primary) and then she doesn't concede and gives a stump speech - so she can get a free commercial. Same deal.

So?
Maybe the Clinton campaign can up the ante and drop bags of cash somewhere while Obama's speaking.
Oh wait, they'd have to borrow those from Obama.
Never mind.

Hillary has her 'coat-tails' campaigning for her, while she is off campaigning elsewhere, so the Obama campaign just neutralized president 'coat-tails' to level the playing field. Good move.
