For my 1000th: Proof of Petraeus's lies on Iraq, and Obama or Clinton's next question....

So I was perusing General Petraeus’s latest report to the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committee, when I came across this little chart. At first I looked at it and said to myself, “Well gee, it looks like things aren’t quite as bad in Iraq as the media is portraying. Provincial Iraqi control is gaining across Iraq.



Then I noticed Basra, and I thought to myself “Wasn’t there was this minor Shiite on Shiite civil war there... and didn’t the government of President Nouri al-Maliki fail to secure Basra? Didn’t it have something to do with Iranian oil smuggling?”

So here’s my question for General Petraeus: WHAT THE F*** KIND OF PROVINCIAL IRAQI CONTROL DO YOU THINK THERE IS IN BASRA!?!”

Of course, either Obama or Clinton could probably put it in more succinct and acceptable terms.

His assessment of the situation is correct, but neither Clinton or Obama should be ignoring the gaping holes in Petraeus's arguments. I mean... this is a chart for God's sake. Could you make a lie more obvious?
