Voters who vilify Clinton or Obama because they "don't go far enough" on their pet issues, and even implying the won't vote/work for the candidate that is not their choice.
This is the problem with coming from a party of entitlement. I thought Democrats were about what you can do for your country.
We're going to wind up with McCain because of selfish voters.

2. It was worded that way entirely for effect. |

... because a lot of people seem to be more worried about what a candidate does for them (a RW value if ever there were one), than what this election means to this country.

... for the effect of getting people who imply they are single-issue voters to perhaps realize such attitudes could be interpreted that way.
It's meant to make you feel self conscious.
As an example... one of my pet issues is gun rights (civil libertarian).
Now... I could make that my pet issue and if I went only by that McCain would be my man... but I know that there is more at stake this year than there ever has been. You think my pet issue is going to stop me from voting for Obama or Clinton this year?
Hell no.

3. Uhmm... Just what "pet issues" are we talking about? |
|
The 935 lies that led to Iraq? The decimation of the working class? Forty million without health care coverage? Corporate corruption like Enron and Worldcom?
Just who is the "party of entitlement"?? Are you talking about the "ownership class"? Or is that your euphemism for "welfare Cadillacs"?

4. I'm not going to single an issue out... |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 03:21 PM by iiibbb
for one main reason, it's not about the particular issue, it's about the attitude of specific posters...
I just think it's poor form for someone to say .
I've noticed people have chosen to take that line, and I think it's short-sighted and wrong for the country... and it comes off sounding like entitlement.
That's all I'm saying... and if people act like the game is over once Obama/Clinton get the nomination... then we're going to get McCain and _everyone_ loses.
