Here's the difference in Hillary Supporters and Obama supporters....
And of course, I don't mean ALL Obama supporters.

Hillary supporters don't read a story like the one below and immediately start researching to find out if indeed Baskin Robbins had sprinkles or sugar cones in the seventies, to discredit one of our Democratic candidates.

Because, really, it's meaningless whether or not Baskin Robbins had sprinkles or sugar cones, or if bookbags were in use, in the big picture...and the big picture is getting a Democrat elected in November.

So y'all just go ahead and pick to pieces the Democrat you don't support. It only makes you look petty, childish, and spiteful. And it keeps your attention focused on the unimportant stuff in this election cycle.

*********************

Where It All Began for Obama
By Shailagh Murray

MALVERN, Pa. -- Everybody's gotta start somewhere.

Apparently Sen. Barack Obama's road -- or rather, rocky road -- to the White House started at the local Baskin-Robbins. He disclosed to a crowd of 1,400 here that the ice cream chain was his first employer as a teenager.

"It was actually kind of embarrassing because you had to wear, like, a brown cap and stuff," Obama told his laughing audience. And don't forget that apron, he added. "Girls would come in and you'd be trying to talk to them, and they wouldn't give you the time of day, because you were wearing this cap."

But that wasn't his only lesson learned, amid the sprinkles and sugar cones.

"I was making, I don't know, like maybe a hundred dollars a week or something, and they were still taking this money out," Obama said. "And I thought, man. That's the payroll tax."

"I was making, I don't know, like maybe a hundred dollars a week"??
Unless he can prove that, he was no doubt taking payola from Saudis and Columbians!!

Wait.. sorry.. I was channeling a DUbama's hissyfit if this was about Hillary.

41. I hate to say this because I'm not a supporter
of either two, but......... It is very possible in all the trips that Hillary Clinton took as first lady that there was sniper fire when she landed in one of the countries. So what if it wasn't Bosnia, she didn't remember the country, she took hundreds of trips abroad, I would think that after a while all the airports pretty much look alike. You can take a hundred people and have them experience an incident and each one will remember something slightly different than the next. That's human nature, it's not lying.

13. I agree with you about trivia taking over the board at times ...
... but it's been coming from both sides. Remember Snub-Gate? And the threads about a $215 item purchased at Tiffany's on an Obama campaign credit card that had people screaming "Ah-HA!"?

It's coming from both sides, and it's tiresome either way. I'm not a Hillary supporter - but the first time I saw people actually discussing the "book-bag", I thought it some inside DU joke that I just wasn't getting ...

I guess we can all agree on one thing these days: there are supporters on both sides who not only ushered-in Silly Season - they've been its cheerleaders since day one.

23. In the sixties, I had a bookbag, and a bit later, a "knapsack." Some called it a rucksack.
Less commonly, it would be called a haversack. The knapsack thing is now called a "backpack" but it's the same as one. A few more buckles, no zipper, no velcro, and it was made of canvas, but the same idea. You put your books in it and slung the thing over your shoulder.

You could buy them for a buck at the Army-Navy store. They often tore under the weight of heavy tomes, as they were "seconds," and poorly made, so it was smart to buy two, one for each semester.

Here's an old JUNGLE BOOK bookbag--I had one on these lines, in the very early sixties, but without the illustration:

If "the young" were suggesting that Clinton couldn't have had a bookbag or a "backpack" (aka haversack, rucksack, knapsack) they're dumb. Terribly dumb. Incapable of any extrapolation. Would they be flummoxed by a rotary dial phone?

I think an article about Barack and Michelle's first date mentioned them stopping at a Baskin-Robbins where he tried to impress her with his ice cream "skills" from working at one as a teenager.

edit to add - Some of us skipped all the stupid book-bag threads and generally do so when some stupid "controversy" pops up. Perhaps we should instead of ignoring it, go in and fight against it but, you know, some things just don't seem worth it since our time is limited.

31. There was a Shepherd Boy
who tended his sheep at the foot of a mountain near a dark forest. It was lonely for him, so he devised a plan to get a little company. He rushed down towards the village calling out "Wolf, Wolf," and the villagers came out to meet him. This pleased the boy so much that a few days after he tried the same trick, and again the villagers came to his help. Shortly after this a Wolf actually did come out from the forest. The boy cried out "Wolf, Wolf," still louder than before. But this time the villagers, who had been fooled twice before, thought the boy was again lying, and nobody came to his aid. So the Wolf made a good meal off the boy's flock.
