Election '08...The Election of Entitlement
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 06:03 PM by SoCalDem
It's becoming more and more obvious, at least to me, that this year is about entitlement...

McCain's entitlement, because he was tortured, and endured years as a POW..and then was tormented by the Bush-Machine, only to rebound, kiss the Royal ring, and became a loyal subject..

And , in a way it's the same story for Hillary too.. She "endured" years of a chaotic marriage, and decades of political torture from the republicans ..

It could have been Rudy's entitlement for being "Mayor of America" on 9-11-911-9-11-9-11..

It could also have been Edwards' entitlement because of his steadfast adherence to his pledge to end poverty, and his diligent 4 year campaign to ..well.. campaign again..

Mitt thought he was entitled too..but mostly because he just looked so mahhhhhvelous, and so presidential..and he had more money than anyone else.

The "also-rans" probably thought that they too were entitled, in a way, for their hard work and years of public service..

The irony is this..

The PEOPLE sometimes feel entitled too.. They actually take a liking to a candidate, and brush all the entitlement crumbs into the dustbin of history.. Ask Bob Dole.. Ask the people who ran against St. Ronnie of Reagan..

Had Obama not felt that this was his time, things might be different, but he DID choose to run, and it's more and more obvious every day, that even though he may not be "entitled" , he is earning every delegate, and people like him.

Is that his fault? Or is it just that he is the one who caught the national attention, just when we were all tired of being taken advantage of by so many other "entitled" people.. the oil people, the bankers, the bosses, the mortgage companies, the wall streeters, the corporations, and we are ready for change ..?

10. Obama thinks he's entitled too
He may in fact be considered the first Affirmative Action President. When you look into his past, a lot has been offered to him that wouldn't have been offered to other men, black or white. Like prep school in Hawaii, or Columbia or Harvard, or state senate or giving bills to pass (when he didn't work on them) to pad his run for US senate, then there are the weak repubs that he ran against. Whew! Tough life!

13. flat out fucked up and disgusting. Affirmative Action candidate??
Shove it. He got a scholarship to Punahao. In other words, he earned
it. And he got the grades to go to Columbia and Harvard.

You've made it clear what you are- as if it weren't already clear.

17. Yup, I've made it clear
I don't like Obama and am not a supporter. I defend Clinton because she's gotten a raw deal from the people on this board, but Obama has gotten a pass, like he has all his life.

You want someone who earned it and is black? Give me Jesse Jackson anytime, and not only would I have voted for him, I worked for him. Obama is a light weight and his wife is not much better. Her with it's now or never dialog, like he's too important to run again. He's a tool. He is being used to bring down the Clintons, to run them out of DC. After all, they didn't know THEIR place, which was to stay in Arkansas. And, how dare them to be popular, even now.

It cracks me up that all you suckers think this guy is the savior of the dem party. Someone here even called him a guardian angel, give me a break. He's a guy who took and ran with every opportunity that was given to him, nothing more. I will be surprised if he wins the GE, and if he should pull it off, he will be the biggest disappointment that a one-term President could ever be. You guys still don't get it.

and people who latch onto others and live vicariously through their accomplishments...not so much

11. Agree..."Some People..and more and more" seem to Really Like him...
I'm hoping he's not going to end up like "Sally Field" when she won her OSCAR AWARD...where she broke down in tears and said: "You Like me......You REALLY LIKE ME!"

I loved Sally Fields. I was angry at those who trashed her in vile terms because she was HONEST in her EXPRESSION!

But in today's VERY CYNICAL AMERICA...worse that what Fields had to deal with....I wonder how this will go over in November.

I honestly don't know. (Caveat: I don't support either Obama nor Hillary) I'm "Candidate Deficient."

:-(

18. Obama is the one who is acting like he is entitled to the presidency. And he didnt win
people over with his message, that's just the MSM's talking points. He won them over with a hateful campaign to tear Sen. Clinton down. It may get him the nomination, but it will cost him the general election.

Steve
