WTF! McCain/Rice beats Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama in NY!
What is it going to take to wake people up?

<http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/04/09/poll-suggests-mccain-rice-ticket-could-win-big/#comments>

CNN) – Condoleezza Rice has said she has no desire to be John McCain's running mate, but a new poll out Wednesday suggests that duo could beat the Democratic ticket in the bluest of states.

In a new poll conducted by Marist College and WNBC, a McCain-Rice ticket would beat a ticket that includes both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in New York — a state that reliably votes for the Democratic candidate. (In 2004, John Kerry beat President Bush there by nearly 20 points. In 2000, the margin between Al Gore and Bush was an even higher 25 points.)

But should McCain and Rice team up, the poll suggests the two Republicans would carry New York, defeating a Clinton-Obama ticket by 3 points (49-46 percent) and an Obama-Clinton ticket by 5 points (49-44 percent.)

1. there's no way that ticket could win!
I would be the most surprised person on Earth if they pulled it off. Of course, our voting machines are still hackable... (sigh) :eyes:

40. Oh yes it can. You'll have plenty of female revenge voters voting for
McCain, with ANY woman on it. For that reason, McCain will choose a woman. Watch.

Oh, and a "concert pianist" even though we've never seen her play the piano.

She is by no means an idiot and should not be underestimated. She is a concert pianist - I have seen her play.

I've seen zero brilliance from her, and lots of lies and evil. That's it.

34. I did not say she is not a liar and that she is not evil.
An idiot, in terms of intelligence, she is not. I think it would be a mistake to see her as intellectually impaired. She is too dangerous to underestimate, IMO.

Now Bush's IQ, not so high. But he has surrounded himself with very, very smart people.

4. Forget it. Meaningless. She brings nothing to the ticket.
Except to emphasize the war. She has never run for office, but she is no Eisenhower, either. She brings no natural or geographic constituency to the ticket, and she has been joined at the hip with George W. Bush.

People, don't lose your minds this early.

8. Wow-Do they think New Yorkers won't remember her failure to stop 9/11?This Washington Post wrote

On July 10, 2001, two months before the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, then-CIA Director George J. Tenet met with his counterterrorism chief, J. Cofer Black, at CIA headquarters to review the latest on Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda terrorist organization. Black laid out the case, consisting of communications intercepts and other top-secret intelligence showing the increasing likelihood that al-Qaeda would soon attack the United States. It was a mass of fragments and dots that nonetheless made a compelling case, so compelling to Tenet that he decided he and Black should go to the White House immediately.

Tenet called Condoleezza Rice, then national security adviser, from the car and said he needed to see her right away. There was no practical way she could refuse such a request from the CIA director.

Afterward, Tenet looked back on the meeting with Rice as a tremendous lost opportunity to prevent or disrupt the Sept. 11 attacks. Rice could have gotten through to Bush on the threat, but she just didn't get it in time, Tenet thought. He felt that he had done his job and had been very direct about the threat, but that Rice had not moved quickly. He felt she was not organized and did not push people, as he tried to do at the CIA.

McCain would go down in flames if he chose anyone connected with the Bush administration! Obama is already trying to connect him to the war by stressing the BUSH-MCCAIN policy. If he chooses someone from the Bush administration it will only get worse.

There's no way on this planet McCain is going to win this election. The media hasn't even started on him yet. The fact the Democrats are pounding on each other and *this* is the best he can do? That's what's amazing.

The young are registering Democratic by a wide margin.

22. Here's the actual poll data
http://www.maristpoll.marist.edu/nyspolls/GV080409.htm

Note at bottom:

Nature of the Sample: 576 New York State Registered Voters

This survey of 576 New York State registered voters was conducted on April 3rd and April 4th, 2008. Registered voters were interviewed by telephone in proportion to the voter registration in each county in New York State and adjusted for turnout in statewide elections. The margin of error is ±4%. The error margin increases for cross-tabulations.

It sounds nutty to me, and a VERY small sample size to claim they're addressing all 55 counties plus NYC. I bet Dems use cell phones too. Wonder if they're basing it on 2006 or 2004 turnout?

25. and another thing - NYers rating of Bush's job - one of the worst in US I bet
56% poor
21% fair
16% good
6% excellent

While they rate HRC as Senator
23 poor
25 fair
32 good
18 excellent

So why the heck would they vote for McSame when Bush is fair or poor for 77%? I call these results bogus or novelty factor of Condi.
