So Colin Powel basically came out against McCain... |
|
on GMA. Said the current course in Iraq was unsustainable; putting a big stake through the heart of McCain's false dichotomy of victory and surrender. Had nothing but praise for Obama, even defended Wright to a degree. Interesting.

1. He bears as much blame as anyone for taking us into Iraq. |
|
There was a time that I respected Powell. That was before he became one of Bush's henchmen.

that's also a problem with any military person getting into politics. Ike was a big exception.

5. You are kidding. Right? |

You are saying that his UN presentation in 2003, which played a huge role in the "urgency" for war, was just a soldier following orders?

7. He counseled against invading, and against invading on the cheap. |
|
was his performance in the UN pathetic? absolutely. But did you see him cheerleading in the months before, like Condi and her magic mushrooms, or Cheney, or Rumsfeld? Naw. He was bad, but the others were far worse.
I don't think we disagree much, except as to the degree of the error of his ways.

Hell, I made a mistake once, too. 8 yrs ago I won't say who I voted for, but boy have I regretted it ever since.
