How Hillary lost my vote
By ANN ROSEN SPECTOR

DEAR HILLARY:
I really wanted you to be the Democratic candidate and the next president of the United States.

In order to do that, I needed you to be the person I felt you were capable of being. I knew you were smart, funny and kind to your friends and family - I wanted you to demonstrate fairer play in the political arena.

I identified with you because we have some very important things in common.

<snip>>

You were blindsided by Barack Obama - and felt he needed more seasoning, that it wasn't "his turn." And I stayed with you, rooted for you (even though I've admired Obama for four years).

Perhaps I could have continued to hold on, if only you'd stayed on the moral high ground and told the truth.

<<snip>>

To a great extent, I have to vote for the person of greater integrity, who will try to do the right thing most of the time - and I've lost faith in you. You finally lost me at Bosnia. Your claim to have been there during active hostilities has been roundly disproved, and your explanation that you misspoke or were too tired is, at best, lame.

And I'm sad. I wanted you to be what I think is the best part of you.

You mean you see her getting caught in an outright lie about sniper fire is somehow the media's fault for reporting it. Talk about spin, you must be dizzy.

5. Of course here we go...name calling so early in the morning
Had too much coffee?

If you ignore the 24/7 LIES told by the media about the issue, and looked at some of the reporting made at the time of the visit (which was out there for people to see if they really wanted to know the truth, I believe people don't want the truth, they want to bash Clinton). YOu would see reporters talking about Clinton on the front line--with sniper fire in the back ground. You can hear it for yourself. The First Lady of the US went to the FRONT LINES OF A WAR. When the plane landed on the front lines, I imagine concern voiced by the pilot. Common sense tells you the danger of flying into a WAR ZONE.

Now, Obama has padded his resume, lied (oops when Obama does it it is called "misspoke"), and NOT ONE story on it. He has done the same thing Clinton has, and no one noticed. Why? Because it was not on the spin-propaganda-cycle 24/7. Because the goal is not to ferret out the truth. We only need to look at the hospital story never fully investigated, but Clinton was called a liar--by the media 24/7 with little evidence. Because the goal is to bash and attack Clinton and take her down.

So. Who is dizzy? I am from the 24/7 lies and distortions tossed at Clinton daily with little regard for reality.

I thought progressives were smarter than to believe that crap.

7. I understand that you have on your Obama goggles and it is hard
to objectively look at the issue. There was a CBS newsstory made at the time of the visit. Go find it on Youtube. Hear it for yourself.

Was the danger contained? Of course. The First lady was there. Just like the danger is contained when diplomates visit Iraq. People are not stupid. They were not in a ditch dodging fire the whole time.

I understand you have dehumanized Clinton, and so you cannot see ANYTHING good in her at all. But your lack of willingness to look at the reality of the situation, shows that you are not really interested in the truth.

14. Why can't both be true? They were there a long time.
It is not a snapshot.

When the CBS news reporter was talking, there was sniper fire. Why can't both be true?

Look back at the McCain visit to Iraq in which he strolled down the street, bragging later about how safe he was. The wide shot showed that he was surrounded by soldiers and tanks with airplanes overhead--the WAR ZONE contained for the visit.

Why is it so hard for people to be reasonable about this? It does not have to be either/or.

It is so easy just to lay back on the sofa and agree with the spoonfeedingpropaganda machine. But, use common sense. Use reasonableness in looking at this issue.

And remember what the media did with Clinton and the hospital story. They did not EVEN INVESTIGATE throughly before shouting "Liar!" How dare they. And how dare anyone give them any credibility after that. It calls into question EVERYTHING they proclaim.

18. I am suggesting that it does not have to be either it was completely
contained or there was sniper fire. I am suggesting that reasonable people in a war zone hearing sniper fire could consider that they are not in the safest place on earth.

I am suggesting that it is possible to be both in a war zone and in a contained area at times. I assume it is hard to contain an area for a plane landing. I am certain that a good pilot landing on the front lines of a war zone would have voiced concern that Clinton heard.

You people want so badly to continue to dehumanize her that you have lost any sense of reasonableness.

Edited on Thu Apr-10-08 08:53 AM by Evergreen Emerald
I don't have time to try to find it this morning, as I am getting ready for work, but I can try this evening, if you haven't found it.

"This would have been headline news if it had happened." I just have to laugh. The goal of the media is not the truth. Otherwise it would have been HEADLINE news when the media was caught WRONG on the hospital story. They shouted LIAR about Clinton and whispered "oops" they discovered that she told the truth. People are still referring to the story to prove Clinton lied--when she did not.

The media is not after the truth. The media is attacking Clinton.

19. Hillary admitted that she made a mistake on that story.
She herself has said it wasn't true. Is she lying about that? Don't blame the media--that's the last resort for a politician in trouble.

My problem with HRC is that she is not consistent. She's nice, then she's nasty. On the campaign trail she acts like a totally different person than she is at the Senate Armed Services Cmte. There, she is reasoned and intelligent. On the trail, she is highly volatile, swinging from ecstatic to furious, yelling at the top of her lungs about trivial things. She just doesn't project what I'd like to see in a competent executive.

She'd be better than any Republican, but as long as there is an alternative out there, I'm going to support him instead.

23. Consistency?
There you go again believing the media. Obama has his surrogates being nasty for him. He--through his campaign says the nastiest things. and then he smiles for the camera.

And you don't even look at that. Why? Are you so easily fooled? That is what the Obama camp is trying to do. Fool you.

Clinton is a normal human. With normal human emotions. Just like you.

If you look at her knowledge of the issues and her grasp of the whole picture, you would see such a powerful strong, exceptional person. But, you choose to look at her "too emotional" to be President.

Ohmygod that is stunning.

42. no I didn't say too emotional. I said not consistent.
And yes, this is a very important question when choosing a president. Being consistent builds trust.

And I didn't even mention Obama; I was talking about Hillary Clinton and why I think she isn't the best choice that we have.

I'm sure she's nicer in real life than she seems on the campaign trail. I've heard and read as much. But why does she adopt these poses--being so many different personalities--on the campaign trail. I believe the real person is the one we see in the Senate. I wish she'd just be herself. Instead she's made a cartoon out of herself.

If she can't run a campaign successfully, how will she run an administration?

About your personal criticisms of me: I judge Obama and Clinton based on what I see with my own eyes. The media didn't have to tell me that Obama is calm and rational on the stump (and indeed when I saw him in person with no media filter), and Clinton is all over the place.

45. FRONT LINES OF WAR and WAR ZONE
You are aware that not a single American soldier was killed in Bosnia from combat or snipers or any kind of conflict.

If it was SO DANGEROUS AS YOUR CAPITALS WANT ME TO BELIEVE then we should have called child protective services for endangering Chelsea's life so casually as they walked peacefully down the tarmac.

The truth is that she was trying to package herself. That is why she hired Penn. For some reason she didn't think that just old plain Hillary Clinton was good enough. It was she just didn't realize it. When faced with the same problem McCain fired his Penns and just showed up at town meetings and they voted for him. Hillary was always trying to create a Hillary instead of just showing people who she is. The results are that after three months of campaigning she has gained exactly 3 percentage points

11. incapability of understanding the pitfalls of her campaign dooms one to repeat them
you can blame the media if you want, but it doesn't resolve the issue: why lie about something that was unnecessary to lie about in the first place, and when easily caught, why offer the lamest of excuses?

Certainly that's consistent with the CURRENT president, but not consistent with the president I desire. Taking responsibility for one's own mistakes is better than creating blamestorms when things go wrong.

16. You see how easy it is to repeat the talking point as if fact
when there are no facts to back it up. It then becomes truth. And repeated by reasonable people who should know better.

I have just been shaking my head in amazement that this Bosnia story became so huge. Of course the media can make anything huge by repeating it constantly. But, seriously I expected more from the masses. I don't know why I did. Look at the last 8 years. I did expect more from DU. But that has also proven a huge mis-calculation.

Not "everyone" knows it was a big story.

You just believed the lies and are nodding in lemming like fashion in agreement because it is easier then looking for the truth.

Obama has been lying about a number of things this whole campaign--but you choose to ignore them. Why? Well, Clinton has been dehumanized by Obama supporters and the media and Obama's "misspeaks" (not lies when he does it) are not even looked at.

He is allowed to change his stories with no 24/7 news coverage and talking heads calling him a liar.

I just expected more from intelligent people.

the truth is she did make a fool of herself. She did embellish her journey and she got caught. If I were her supporter I would just say yep she shouldn't have done that, rather than try to make it someone else's fault.

She made a mistake and she needs to own it and move on as do those trying to cover for her.

As far as Obama lying, I haven't heard too much about that but if he has he needs to own it and move on as well. I think the wisest thing we can all do is just support who we believe in and see how it works out.
