Call your local Progressive/Air America Affiliate and request they pick up Randi!!!!
Randi is going to need your help getting clearance on her former Air America stations. I'm sure the station manager knows Randi was the number 1 show on the Air America network, they might need a little push from the public.

1. No thanks.
If I want to listen to people call Democratic women "fucking whores" and comparing them to clansman, there are enough assholes on the right wing side to do that.

I don't have any desire to hear that on progressive radio.

Secondly, we don't have any liberal talk shows where I live, in only the FOURTH LARGEST CITY in the UNITED STATES. Not exactly Podunkville. We don't have any liberal talk radio.

And I don't want to hear Randi Rhodes call Democratic female politicians "fucking whores". We have enough Repukes that will be happy to tear them down.

This Obama supporter was disgusted by what Randi said.

Her voice is not the type of progressive voice that will heal a divided party and nation.

37. Sam's a great guy, and he deserves his own weekday show
But this ain't the way he wants to get it. If AAR offered him the time slot, he might take it, because he's got a family to support, but I doubt the assholes running that network are going to keep him on the air either. The reason they cut him back to Sundays in the first place is that Sam didn't leave any doubt as to where he stood, regarding the corporatist DLC wing of the Democratic party. Sam is already a fill in host on Nova M, so it's reasonable to think he may be discussing future possibilities with them.

12. Posting about the same thing multiple times is frowned upon.
You ever notice that little area when you make a post that shows some similar posts? It's meant to prevent duplicates.

The fact that you're making duplicates on purpose, well, it's rude.

So, anyway, I'm not trying to shut you up, I'm trying to get you to follow the rules.

18. I took your suggestion
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5392135&mesg_id=5392135
"Don't sweat it. Enjoy your vacation and than come back stronger than ever. You are the republicans worst nightmare: a strong woman that speaks her mind. "

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x5446243
"Randi is going to need your help getting clearance on her former Air America stations. I'm sure the station manager knows Randi was the number 1 show on the Air America network, they might need a little push from the public."

Okay, so the difference is that the first one is some sort of "shout-out" to Randi, and the second is a sad attempt to get DU'ers to call radio stations to support Randi.

You **seriously** don't see how these two things could have been combined in the same post? There is no common denominator here, right?

So anyway, I took your friendly condescending advice to "educate myself", and I arrived at the same conclusion: You're spamming in a forum about the PRIMARIES.

I can only imagine what your third post is going to be about.

24. wtf are you even talking about?
Here's a funny fact: I think Randi's show sounds like pencils being jammed into my ears, and I support Obama. How the heck is that possible?

If you look at my original post, I said that she shouldn't have been pulled. It was a stupid decision. I sent a couple angry emails about it.

But the idea that you thought you figured out which side of the aisle I was on based on what I thought of Randi, well, that pretty much sums up this whole conversation. Thanks for being representative of what Hillary supporters think of Obama supporters. Really helps our cause.

22. As a paying premium member of AAR, I disagree
I know about her numbers. It blows my mind. I don't deny them. She gets listeners. How, I'll never know.

But as for me, she's the only show I don't take to work in a podcast. I tried, and I just couldn't do it. I'd listen to Wes Clark Jr. do a show by himself before I could listen to another whole Randi show.

29. Unfortunately, I agree. It's her treatment of callers and interviews...
...that turned me off. When a Dem politican is on the phone for an interview, I don't want to listen to the host interrupting and cutting off the politician, and hogging the whole time of the interview.

And then the way she screams at callers when she doesn't agree with them and she can't force them to say she's right....it's scary, and makes my stomach turn.

Still, others like her and like to listen to her, and I think AAR is wrong for taking her off the air because of her comments about Clinton and Ferraro.

50. You've pretty much perfectly encapsulated my feelings on the subject.
I don't understand why people were taking sides on this thing based on candidates, either. Hillary supporters shouldn't have wanted her off the air. Sure, complain, but pulling her was a bad decision.

It really seems bizarre to me that she even has a serious political show. I mean, she doesn't have a quarter of the hard knowledge of any of the existing AAR hosts, and I'm probably being generous. She makes ad-hominem attacks on anybody she doesn't like, and that list changes day to day.

Here's why I shut her off. Last year, there was a huge call for congress to stop funding the war. Now, there was a lot of legitmate debate across all of the AAR shows about this, whether it was a viable strategy for ending the war. Either way one fell on the issue, one could provide a convincing and cogent argument. Well, Randi decided that she was going to just screech and scream down every single caller that suggested defunding. She did this for at least two weeks. And she would do this all the while almost every other host on AAR and Nova-M saw viability in the strategy - she was essentially calling every other host stupid, brainless, etc. A caller finally brought this up, and she just changed the subject and kept up the "you're stupid!" tactic. At that point, I had totally had it. I'm sure she's a nice enough woman in real life, but on the radio, she's vile, illogical, prone to assumptions, lacking knowledge and nuance, and overall, not entertaining. I remember so clearly when I shut her off for good too. She was playing her Friday "Boobies" song. I hit skip and deleted her from iTunes.

Anyway, I do miss TYT. :(

14. Unfortunately my 'progressive' AAR affiliate is the one run by Mark Green himself
the flagship station in NYC. You know the one that relegated Sam Seder to Sundays, and fired Mike Malloy over his cellphone, and just dumped Thom Hartmann in the NYC market and just kept him online, as well as marginalizing the Young Turks. Looks like land radio is becoming irrelevant, I'll listen online to all of these hosts wherever they end up, however, for reaching the masses of underinformed people in this country ahead of the elections, AAR just did us all a great disservice. I just called the station and told them I wanted to cancel my premium subscription, no reason to listen to podcasts of shows whenever I want them, there's nobody left to listen to except Rachel, and who knows how much longer she'll stay. I hope she gets on the tv where she can reach a lot of people, we need her there.

They will not be able to shut her down because contrary to what some want you to think on DU she has a pretty solid fan base. I don't care for Sam Seder but as of right now he seems to be the best that AA has.

26. If Randi goes on air at NovaM she will turn over every rock and reveal the truth
about what's going on at AAR. They're going to wish they hadn't forced her out, and even though they say she quit (and I'm sure she did) they wanted her out, that's for certain. They've even got an article up on Huffpo where they say everyone at the station is relieved and nobody will miss her. How unprofessional of them is that. What a joke, there's nobody left at that station to be relieved, especially at the NYC station, they've gotten rid of practically all their on air talent that started the station except Rachel, and Sam has been put on for three hours on Sunday afternoons. Then in another statement AAR thanks her for her service to the station and wishes her well. Talk about two faced.

She shouldn't have made those hateful comments and I'm sure that she realizes that now. But IMO she should be be allowed to apologize and get a second chance.
