Stu Starky (McCain's Dem challenger) on Ed Schultz tomorrow...
Somebody had to do it. Some Democrat had to step up to the plate and take on McCain in order to fill the Democratic ticket in Arizona. And, boy, it wasn't just anybody. Stu Starky, an eighth grade math teacher in a South Phoenix public school, has thrown down the gauntlet. With no money and skepticism from the party establishment, he started out this spring, working hard and tirelessly for his siganrtures. He made it. He is now on the ballot. He, after travelling across the state and not taking any time off from the classroom, has won the hearts of Arizona Democrats. Dailykos.com and other Democratic challengers have understandably written any challenger to McCain off as a sacrificial lamb but Starky has won the respect of a viable candidate. Not that he has any delusions. Here are some quotes:

"The most important part of this campaign is electing Senator Kerry president."

"Accepting Civil Unions is like telling Rosa Parks to be happy she is on the bus."

"People want to blame the illegal immigration problem on the people who cross the border, the problem is that two governments do not care about people on either sides of the border."

"NCLB is not about helping kids, it is about destroying the public school system. This president or first lady go to a rich white school read a few books and claim to care about education. Come on down to my school and lets talk about helping kids."

"Dick Cheney questions the integrity of Senator Kerry? This vice president is the biggest scandal in history and his Halliburton cronies did it at the expense of our soldiers."

"We have spent 40 years using tax policy to move jobs out of America. Lets use the next 4 years using tax policy to make jobs in America and see what happens."

His NEW website will be at www.starkyforsenate.com and will be up by tomorrow in time for the radio show.

2. If he gets over 35%, Kerry will win Arizona...
Whatever percentage he gets represents what percentage of 'staight ticket' voters.

3. The freepers have been trying
to get rid of McCain for years...they have tried recall petitions, etc.

Maybe Starky could join up with the Freepers?
