Clinton Picks Up Three Superdelegates

PITTSBURGH – Three superdelegates in 36 hours.
That was the good news from Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign on Thursday, a rare string of endorsements for a candidate who has watched one superdelegate after another pledge their support to Senator Barack Obama.

2. Key phrase: "a RARE string of endorsements"

She's now back to -2 since Super Tuesday.

Obama is +68.

11. Great point....
Hillary seems to be going backward not forward. CNN said today that Hillary has only a 4% lead in PA. Other polls reflect similar results - only one has her with a huge lead. the strides Seantor Obama makes when he 'hits the ground' are remarkable.

As a New Yorker I feel you should change that sign to read "I love Hillary". You really shouldn't try to speak for others.

Interesting that part of the story isn't reported.

Man, the media really wants to keep this going, don't they?

endorsed Clinton. I love Sophie and she's one great lady and was one of Pittsburgh's better mayor. But she is 89 years old! I'm sure she'd love to see a woman in the White House.

27. Rather half-hearted endorsements.
Bill Burga, for instance, doesn't seem especially thrilled, and doesnt' want to make any public statements:

For having just endorsed a presidential candidate, Burga doesn't sound too enthusiastic. It fact, he didn't even want to talk about her.

"You not going to make a story out of this?" he asked.

When pressed, he added, "I just don't need to make any public statements on this."

http://blog.cleveland.com/openers/2008/04/clinton_gains_ohio_super_deleg.html

And Jackie Speir is a 'soft' Clinton supporter:

The Times asked for her response to the fear among many Democrats that, if Clinton takes the fight all the way to party convention in late August, it will give Republican nominee John McCain more time to consolidate his party base, raise money and widen his lead in the polls.

We expected Speier to downplay the risk of a possible convention fight, which has many liberals worried about losing the election despite the fact that public opinion on the economy and the war in Iraq favors the Democrats.

Instead she replied, "I don't think it'll go to the convention."

Speier, who will become a superdelegate if she wins the race for Lantos' seat, said she expects the nominating contest to end not long after the last states hold their primary elections in early June.

Given Obama's practically insurmountable lead in the delegate count, Speier would appear to believe that either Clinton will bow out for the good of the party or Democratic leaders will put sufficient pressure on her to step aside.

Even more surprising, Speier said that despite her endorsement of Clinton, she would decide whom to vote for after the primary, leaving open the possibility that she'd go for Obama.

She declined to say which candidate would get her vote, but her silence itself was revealing.

29. Pitiful! They did not even give glowing reviews or her..Perhaps
they are doing it because their states went for her (or will go to her in case of PA).

31. As usual a positive thread about Hillary turns into a freeper slam
Clinton supporters can't have a positive thread without all the freepers interjecting slime into it. The Obama Camp has a reputation of negative campaigning so I guess it's standard procedure as usual.

35. Jackie Speier already backing off SD endorsement - thinks Obama will be nominee

http://www.insidebayarea.com/sanmateocountytimes/localnews/ci_8821893

FORMER state Senator Jackie Speier made a surprising remark on the presidential race Thursday when she visited the Times for an editorial interview.
Speier — the overwhelmingly favorite in the race to fill the seat of Rep. Tom Lantos, who died in February — is a longtime supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton, who is locked in a battle with Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination.
