Vets Tour PA For HRC

PHILADELPHIA, PA - 'Veterans for Hillary' will kick-off a 37-city, month-long tour across PA with three stops in Philly today. Fmr Dep. Asst. Secretary of the Navy William Cassidy will begin the tour with stops at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home and the Penrose and Melrose Diners.

During the tour, 'Veterans for Hillary' members, including retired military personnel who served at the highest levels of the military as well as veterans returning from the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan, will visit veterans' health facilities and hold public conversations about veterans' issues in communities across the state. Tour participants aim to inform Pennsylvanians about Clinton's record of support for veterans and to assess conditions at Pennsylvania's veterans' facilities.

"When it comes to serving our veterans, Hillary Clinton does not only talk about how much she appreciates their sacrifice - she follows through with real support," Cassidy said. "Thanks to her efforts, the nearly 20,000 members of the Pennsylvania National Guard now have access to federal health benefits and hundreds of thousands of military personnel are now screened for traumatic brain injury. She has had a real impact on the lives of the men and women in our armed forces, and she will continue to fight for them as President."

……

Enact a GI Bill of Rights for the 21st Century. Hillary will enact a GI Bill of Rights for the 21st Century that will resurrect the spirit of the original 1944 GI Bill and offer service members, veterans and their families with expanded education, housing and entrepreneurial benefits. Her plan will guarantee equal access for all components of the Armed Forces -- Active, Guard and Reserve -- that have deployed overseas in support of a combat operation since September 11 or served two years of active duty since September 11. She will fund undergraduate education for service members, as well as education for specialized trade or technical training, and certification and licensing programs. She will make GI educational benefits transferable within families. She will expand the VA Home Loan Guaranty program to allow veterans to use low-interest, no-fee loans to purchase, build or improve a home valued up to $625,000. She will establish a Veterans Microloan Program to provide veterans with no-collateral, low-interest microloans of up to $100,000 for entrepreneurial ventures…….more.

2. Rodeodance, you always cheer me up.
This is very cheering news, because I remember that one reason Kerry won in Iowa was that he had a committed "band of brothers" that worked hard to help him win. That alone, I believe, helped him prevail over Dean.

BTW, have you ever heard the song "Cowgirl's Rodeo"? I heard it in this schmaltzy Hallmark Channel movie that I love to watch, but I think you would like it.

I think you can just listen to the link once.

4. Oh god...comparing this Kerry's 'band of brothers'? LOL. When Hillary basically shits on the militar
y with her Bosnia lies by saying she was in danger, when they worked their asses off to make sure NOTHING went wrong...

NOT comparable to Kerry's loyal brothers in arms.

9. She made it seem like she was in danger in Bosnia, when there were literally THOUSANDS of
troops surrounding the airfield and the bases she visited just to ensure her visit went off without a hitch and that she remained safe. Yet on four occassions she makes it seem like they were inept and she had to fucking run for cover to her armored car and the military flight she flew in on would just dump her into an active war zone.

Hillary won't be in the race that long.

They are optimistic though....bless their little hearts!

14. Well, vets aren't a monolithic group anyway.
While active duty personnel trend conservative (mostly due to the culture of the military), veterans are all over the board politically.

21. But Obama's got the rank and file!
For whatever reason, they have less faith in Hillary than the retired ones.

Must be because their asses are still on the line, and they know who voted for this war, and who didn't. Those front line soldiers are pretty smart, hey?

Add to this her long list of flag officer support and you see a candidate well thought of by those in the know in the military.

This vet supports her as well - and I sure wish I could be on that tour.
