Bush Gets Better Ratings in 3 Battleground States Than Nationwide
Los Angeles Times poll analysis suggests that the only Bush argument against Kerry that persuades even a little is the idea that Kerry flip-flops on issues for political advantage. While Kerry is above 50 percent in a nationwide two-man race, and Bush has the highest wrong track number recorded in the 43 history of the poll, the Battle ground state results have Maine at +10 for Kerry, Nevada +10 Kerry, with the AP reporting Kerry only +2 in Michigan, GOPer Matt Dowd told ABC News that the LA Times poll was a mess because Bush leads independents by three, and leads GOPer's by a larger margin than Kerry is ahead among Dems, and says GOP sees a Dem 9 point lead on the generic congressional ballot - not the 19 in the poll.

Bush Gets Better Ratings in 3 Battleground States Than Nationwide
Polls show the president ahead in Missouri, but virtually tied with Kerry in Ohio and Wisconsin.
By Ronald Brownstein
Times Staff Writer

June 10, 2004

WASHINGTON — <snip>In Missouri, Bush leads Kerry by 48% to 42% in a two-way race, and by 48% to 37% in a three-way race, with independent Ralph Nader garnering 5%.

In Ohio, the two men are in a virtual dead heat: Kerry attracts 46%, Bush 45%. With Nader in the mix, Kerry's lead slightly expands: The Massachusetts senator attracts 45%, compared with 42% for Bush and 4% for Nader.

In Wisconsin, Kerry and Bush draw 44% each; in a three-way contest, Bush remains at 44%, while Kerry slips to 42% and Nader gets 4%.<snip>

The polls, conducted Saturday through Tuesday among registered voters, have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points in each state. This is the first in a series of Times surveys examining the most hotly contested states.<snip>

1. Battling Bush
We must get better in showing it is Bush who is the calculating flip-flopper, and show Kerry is well thinking, thoughtful and reasoning statesman he is. Somehow, we cannot let ourselves get into being only Bush Bashers (though that is fun!).

4. This all shows ONE basic, vital thing
It is all going to be about getting out the vote. This is where Bush is spending big time. We have to match it with people not only to contact voters but to drive them and virtually drag them to the polls. The republicans will; it is vital we do the same.
