...that

"Obama is supported by Bechtel!"

Conversely.... if some check-out clerk at Wal-Mart sent $25 to Obama's campaign, then "Obama has backing of Wal-Mart!"

See how this works, guys?

Because individual people, who happen to work for oil companies, have donated to Obama's campaign.... he therefore has "accepted money from oil companies".

Discuss....

On EDIT:

Obama has received nearly $160,000,000 in donations.... of which, a mere $213,000 have come from people who are employed by oil companies.

That's less than 0.2%....... that's less than $1 for every $700 he's received.

1. let's make this simple for you
corporations cannot donate to campaigns. But when then senior executives of a firm give, en masse, to a candidate, you can certainly make an infernce.

3. Name one company where the "senior executives" have given "en masse" to Obama.
Good luck.

4. But when lower level employees donate to a candidate, ...
their donations are also characterized as coming from their employer.

6. Um..... link to your proof about "en masse"????

$213,000 from people who work at oil companies..... is NOT "money from oil companies".

Since the individual giving limit is $2300, that means that at LEAST 94 different individuals.... and likely hundreds more than that.

Your inference is bullshit. another way of looking at it is this:

Obama has taken in about $160,000,000 during this campaign.... only $213,000 of it from people who work for oil companies.

That amounts to less than 0.2%..... or less than $1 of every $700.

14. Absolutely correct.
But no inference is necessary with PACs and lobbyists. :D

18. Hypocrisy
Obama supporters have been using opensecrets figures to bash Hillary for months.

Now the qualifier for how those figures are compiled has to be added when discussing Obama.

20. The difference is clear though
Hillary takes money from actual lobbyists not just people that work at a company. That makes those donations different. Lobbyists' entire jobs are to curry political favor and often they use money and gifts to do it. That is a different sort of influence.

21. Hillary has taken about $850K from lobbyists and people who work for lobbying firms.
That is less than 0.5% of her campaign haul.

http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/select.asp?Ind=K02

(note the people working for lobbying firms is why they have Obama with $115K, I know he does not take currently registered Fed lobbyist dough)

Again look at those links, they are blasting Hillary for being #1 in healthcare dollars taken.

Well those "healthcare" dollars are from people in the industry who have given. They are not all executives or lobbyists or whatever.

My point is the numbers were fine to bash Hillary with but when the same source is used against Obama, the qualifiers come out.
